"God, I missed seeing her drop these bombs right on people." Lisbeth was a big fan of Gossip Girl's work so far tonight. The party had been fun so far, but it needed this to spice things up another level. She didn't know which reveal was more interesting. "Messy, messy."
Jenny couldn't help it, her eyes narrowed when Lisbeth spoke and there was an edge to her tone when she replied. "Reactions like yours are why the Gossip Girl takedown didn't stick. Maybe if people stopped enjoying her blasts, she wouldn't be able to ruin so many lives."
"Fuck me." Who was making these drinks? @tfrstarters
'If only...' Jenny sighed sullenly before formulating an acceptable response. "Right? One more and I think I'll start seeing double." But hey, who would complain about two Nate Archibalds?
Vanessa couldn't believe this was happening. She had been so careful to never divulge her entirely misguided mistake with Chuck Bass, no one knew. She thought no one knew. How the hell did 'Gossip Girl' know? Whatever, that wasn't the point. She didn't want to be stuck at this party but she definitely didn't want to face Dan, not now. Not that it mattered! So, she'd done the next best thing and pushed her way through a sudden crowd of whispers and into Juliette Vanderbilt's nth house. After the third turn trying to find the bathroom or a coat closet, or anywhere that wasn't occupied, she could have screamed. Rich people and their endless number of fucking rooms.
Turning the next corner, she almost bumped right into them. "Shit- Sorry, I didn't... I'm just trying to get out of here." @tfrstarters
"Vanessa!" Jenny gasped as she almost collided with her. After reading that gossip blast she had gone looking for her, mostly to check that she was okay, but also to confirm if the info had been correct. Surely not! Chuck Bass was deplorable and Jenny wouldn't let him touch her with a ten foot pole, so surely Vanessa had just as much sense. "Are you okay?"

Dan rolled his eyes at Jenny. He was looking for sympathy from the wrong person. "God, I wonder what it's like to have a nice sibling." He closed his computer to look at her. "Just rotting my brain away reading papers written by rich kids that have never had to do their own work."
"Wouldn't know." She retorted without missing a beat. "Well, you would choose to tutor them." Jenny sighed and sat her sketchbook down. "So are they bad because they've never had to do their own work before and, now that they have, it's crap, or have they definitely been using a chat bot to write them?"
“She was a fighter. She really was. I’ve watched people tear her down, and then ask for her help. And she would help them. She would spend hours helping them. I’ve always admired and hated that part of her.”

Dan had been spending most of his time working on a short story whenever he wasn't at school. He had been tutoring in his free time to make some extra cash, but it had not been going too well. Most of the people he had been working with were pushing him. Definitely a little too far.
He was sitting with his head in his hands, coffee forgotten as he stared at his laptop. "I cannot keep looking at this, it's so bad." @tfrstarters
Jenny lifted her eyes from her sketchbook, realising she wasn't going to be able to keep ignoring him and his stressed, caffeine-fuelled energy. "What's up now? Your fanfics not taking off like you hoped they would?"
"A man can make a lifetime off saying goodnight to a moon, but the New Yorker won't think twice about publishing my coming-of-age dystopian short story that might, or might not have been loosely based off Degrassi High. If E.L. James can do it, me too." Dan had no idea Rufus had wandered off at this point of his rant, leaving his son with knitted brows as he caught the eye of the new person standing before him. As always, Dan defended himself. "-- I'm not talking to myself. I'm not some kind of, heh, weirdo-- Oh, whatever, ignore me."
"Don't worry, loser. Dad passed me in the hall and told me you were in here ranting." Jenny rolled her eyes affectionately as she moved by him, grabbing her sketchbook that she had left on the counter. It was a calculated risk deciding to come get it, but honestly, she was curious about what had ruffled Dan's feathers. "So what's going on now? E.L. James stealing your life's work?"

Jenny’s attention shifted to the photograph in question and she shrugged one shoulder. “Iconic? Always.” She scrutinised the picture for a moment before continuing, “But don’t you think her eyes are following you around the room?”
Blair looked down at her phone then back up again, paler than 30 seconds ago, to see someone doing the exact same thing. She held a single finger up with a prim sniff. “No. If whatever you’re going to say has anything to do with what you just looked at, I do not want to hear it. In fact, if you have nothing of value to say in general, why don’t you turn around and bother someone else, hm?”
Jenny held her hands up defensively, “Wouldn’t dare bring her up without solid proof that it is, in fact, she.” She tucked her own phone away, choosing to ignore the Gossip Girl blast- there was no way... “It could be anyone just trying to mess with us. Caisson could just be bored.”
Georgina Sparks had been working on this whole ‘good person’ thing for a while now and she had it down. Okay, so, maybe she wasn’t totally perfect but still! She hadn’t ruined anyone’s life in almost a year. If anything, she was in serious danger of becoming boring (quelle horreur!). You can be better, be kinder and try harder all day long but it doesn’t change you entirely. That was her defense, your honour, for viciously turning to the nearest bystander and waving her phone at them— “Do you know something about this bitch?”
Jenny had been walking down the street taking to someone on the phone, when a secondary screen forced its way into her field of vision. “Sorry, I’ll have to call you back. I’m being accosted.” She hung up the phone, dropping it into her handbag as she shifted her attention to Georgina. “Nice to see you too.” Jenny read the post on the phone and sighed, “It would appear to be her grand return. Or maybe someone messing with us. Who’s to say?”
“…So, to conclude this episode, only read Matt Haig if you want to get preached at by some man about overcoming depression even though he claims his wife saved him. Not all of us can be so lucky, Matty. We do things for ourselves. I do know that if you’re able to get a book deal, it should be a cake walk for the rest of us. Thanks for the confidence. He’d have to try to muffle out the baristas getting berated by customers in the editing room, where he wished he was now. He wasn’t going to interrupt Rufus’ practice session – it was just good to see him playing again.
He only looked up from his steaming cup of joe at the mention of Gossip Girl by the same obnoxious customers. It’d been too long since that name had been uttered.

Is that little Jenny Humphrey from Brooklyn I see before me? I really have been gone for too long, haven’t I? How on earth did you go from a nobody to Queen B? Or, wait, you all but abolished the hierarchy that centuries of Constance goers upheld before you- didn’t you? The last time I checked, you were an anonymous wannabe trying to claw their way onto my radar. You made a few fair plays for the spotlight mind you (on the arm of Damien Dalgaard, for example). You were running bottom of the barrel errands for former QB Blair and she was barely remembering your name nevermind anything else. I underestimated you, Little J. Your ambition has truly known no means. You wanted to be one of us and now you are. I wonder if it’s everything you imagined it to be. I wonder if you regret crossing over to the other side. A Little Extra
Jenny Humphrey had always dreamed of sitting on the Met steps with the popular kids at Constance Billard. What were they talking about? What were they wearing? She was consumed by it. All Jenny wanted was to fit into this seemingly magical world of glitz and glam. Of boyfriends like Nate Archibald and besties like Blair Waldorf. When Jenny lucked into the chance to be noticed by the Queen B herself, she jumped through every single damned hoop that Blair threw her way. Jenny got herself into trouble, sneaking around behind her dad’s back, believing she was truly a part of the group. When Jenny ended up involved in a little joy ride with our Upper East Siders and got caught, she came crashing back down to reality. Jenny was in big trouble and while it could have been worse, she certainly didn’t get away with being there scot-free like everyone else.
For a while she was bitter and for the most part, it was perfectly valid. Then perhaps one of the single most unexpected things happened on the Upper East Side. Jennifer Tallulah Humphrey was crowned the new Queen B of Constance Billard by Blair Waldorf herself. It was everything she had ever wanted. And then Jenny realised that she didn’t really want it at all. It took some convincing- there was plenty of drama and growing pains- but Jenny managed to convince everyone else of the same. Gossip Girl was gone, the NJBC were moving on and why not let there be peace in the kingdom? From then on, Jenny felt like she could finally let out a breath. She was able to have fun and trust her cool, new friends. Jenny’s last years at Constance Billard were finally worth remembering. She became more confident, pursuing her love of fashion and design. Jenny can’t wait to spend this summer with her besties on an Upper East Side free of any ‘XOXO’s.
