Jupiter's Lie About Shan's Age

Jupiter thought Shan was a minor when he firstly approached her. He acknowledged Shan's young appearance on a phonecall with her.

But in his statement, he lies about Shan’s age, stating was 25 at the time, and claims she used ‘dated images of herself,’ implying that her intent with the picture was to mislead the reader into thinking she was a minor; despite Jupiter himself believing she was a minor. This is Jupiter's attempt at twisting the narrative.

The Playbook Behind Jupiter’s Statement

I’ve seen some concerning posts on Tumblr, and I want to address them. It’s genuinely disturbing to watch people weaponize trauma responses against abuse survivors, all while claiming to stand against abuse. I’m making this post not only because of the harm this causes, but also because it’s a chance to talk about trauma in a way that spreads awareness.

The Messages Used Against Shan

Jupiter’s Spiralpattern content is circulating on Tumblr, and his defenders are trying to discredit Shan’s statement. They point to old messages she sent him, messages where she apologizes, blames herself, and calls their relationship consensual, and claim this “proves” she lied.

But they’re taking those messages at face value without considering the reality of trauma and abusive dynamics. That’s not only extremely harmful and ignorant, it’s also a classic tactic used to silence victims.

The irony is that the very messages being used to “disprove” Shan are actually symptoms of abuse. They don’t undermine her statement. They illustrate the psychological state she was in during that time.

Understanding Trauma Bonding

It is incredibly common for survivors of abuse to deny what happened or even defend their abuser. This is not lying. It’s a trauma response known as trauma bonding. Trauma Bonding is a psychological phenomenon where victims form an intense emotional attachment to their abuser due to a cycle of abuse mixed with moments of kindness. These brief “highs” (love-bombing, apologies, gifts) create a psychological dependency, much like addiction. The victim becomes attached to the abuser, clinging to the good moments while downplaying the bad.

That’s why Shan’s messages (“You didn’t r@pe me,” “It was all my fault,” “We had a consensual relationship”) don’t disprove her experience. They reflect it. Survivors often blame themselves because of gaslighting, manipulation, and emotional dependency. If Shan truly meant what she said, her public statement wouldn’t still be up.

DARVO in Jupiter’s Statement

DARVO stands for Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender, a tactic often used by abusers when confronted with accountability. Jupiter’s response follows this method closely.

Deny

“I am the target of an ongoing smear campaign…”

Jupiter frames Shan’s statement as a personal attack rather than an honest account of her experience. By labeling it a “smear campaign,” he dismisses the idea that her statement could contain truth or valid criticism of his character.

“Using these dated images of herself as though they are current encapsulates the false and manipulative nature of the accusations.”

This is deeply misleading. Shan shared images of herself from when Jupiter first contacted her, when she was underweight and appeared much younger. Jupiter himself acknowledged that she looked 16 when they first began speaking. These images were included for context, not to deceive anyone.

From Shan's Statement:

“Our situation was always positive and consensual and I was consistently kind to her.”

This line attempts to invalidate Shan’s experience by framing his kindness as proof that no abuse could have occurred. But manipulation often coexists with “kindness.” It’s how many abusive relationships operate. This is a minimization tactic.

Attack

“The accuser was 25 years old when we first began talking, despite using pictures of herself as a teenager in her statement…”

Jupiter attacks Shan’s credibility by implying that she deliberately misrepresented herself to appear younger. He is accusing her of manipulating the narrative. In reality, she used photos from the time when he first contacted her. These images reflected her appearance during an ED, which made her look significantly younger; the very reason Jupiter initially thought Shan was 16 (as seen on the pictures above). Shan addresses her young appearance in their chats and Jupiter himself acknowledged it.

Furthermore, Jupiter appears to lie about Shan’s age. In the screenshots Shan shared, he acknowledges she was around 21 when they began talking. Yet in his response, he claims she was 25. He attempts to decrease the age gap and distance himself from any implications of grooming or predatory behavior.

Reverse Victim and Offender

“...I am the target of an ongoing smear campaign and I have to defend myself.” “...I have a reason to believe she (Shan) was pressured by members of ‘Crystal Castles’ … to put out a defamatory statement full of false accusations against me for their own twisted and hostile agenda.”

Jupiter positions himself as the real victim, despite being accused of grooming and s3xu@l abuse. By claiming he is the target of a “smear campaign,” he frames Shan as either manipulated or malicious, and shifts attention away from her statement to his own supposed suffering.

He also blames external figures (Crystal Castles members), constructing a conspiracy narrative that implies the allegations are not based on Shan’s personal experiences, but on a vendetta. This further discredits her voice and undermines her agency, framing her not as a survivor, but as an aggressor.

Additional Deflection Tactics

In his statement, Jupiter also drags in unrelated figures like Ethan Kath, as though Shan’s stance on other allegations has anything to do with her own experience. This is a classic deflection tactic: redirecting the conversation to someone else’s alleged wrongdoing to avoid addressing the harm he’s being accused of.

He also uses Shan’s trauma-bonded messages as “proof” that she is lying; a move that not only ignores the psychological realities of abuse, but weaponizes them against her. Disturbingly, many of his defenders now repeat this tactic, circulating the same screenshots without any understanding of their context.

Conclusion

This is textbook DARVO: Deny the wrongdoing, Attack the accuser, and Reverse the roles of Victim and Offender. Paired with deflection and the weaponization of trauma responses, it’s a manipulative rhetorical strategy meant to avoid accountability, regain control, and punish the person coming forward.

Part 5: Shan’s Confession - Opening Up

On October 7 2024 Shan and Jupiter talked again after months of not speaking. These calls show a different side of Shan as she opens up more honestly and shares feelings she did not say in public. You can hear her reflecting on what happened between them and how complicated things really were.

1) Their time together was happy

In this recording Shan talks about their time in Australia as one of the best memories she has. She says it was not abusive which is very different from what she said publicly before. Her voice sounds calm and real here and shows how her story changes when she talks privately.

2) "I really really loved you"

Here Shan says she loved Jupiter a lot more than she has loved anyone else. She talks about how it destroyed her and how emotional it still is for her. These words give a clearer picture of how complex their relationship was.

3) She explains that her extreme love caused her to act out

Shan talks about how her strong feelings made her behave in ways she regrets. She calls what she did disgusting and says it can not be undone. She is crying in this part but mostly talks about how much she loved. It does not sound like she fully owns what happened.

Alice Glass once had a tour named "Trauma Bond", yet here we are, watching her fans weaponize that exact concept against a survivor. The irony is painful.

Trauma bonding is a real psychological effect that keeps victims tethered to their abusers. These bonds are incredibly hard to break and often result in victims defending or expressing affection toward the very people who harmed them. And that's exactly what we hear in those recordings. Shan's kind words about Jupiter don't disprove abuse, and they certainly don't erase the amount of evidence against him. They just reflect the emotional confusion and conflicting attachment trauma bonds create.

Using that against a survivor is textbook victim-blaming. And it is especially shameful coming from a community that claims to stand against abuse. Shame on you.

I've already shared in a previous blog how Shan's "confession" was not a spontaneous or free admission. Jupiter himself admitted to obtaining ketamine, a dissociative drug often used in coercive and sexually abusive situations. Even if Shan later claimed "they both passed out", the fact remains: Jupiter created an environment where Shan could not consent. That is rape.

If you truly care about survivors, stop defending rapists.

Paige's Comment On Jupiter's Post

Around 2017, when Alice's statement came out, a fan messaged Paige about the abuse Alice has faced since the fan was an abuse victim herself. Paige responded with a series of messages sharing her perspective, not just about Ethan, but also about Jupiter.

In those messages, she claimed that Jupiter was very controlling and manipulative. She also said that Alice’s statement was a narrative created by Alice and Jupiter together, describing it as 'mostly lies with one or two highly exaggerated truths.' Paige added that Jupiter didn’t want Alice to have contact with her family.

In 2024, when Jupiter released a statement on Instagram claiming Shan’s statement was a smear campaign created by Ethan Kath and Edith Frances against him and Alice, Paige left this comment on his post:

Why would she discredit her own words? If she truly only said those things out of anger, why didn’t she clarify or retract them at any point over the last eight years, when fans repeatedly used her messages against Alice? If her goal was to stand up for her sister and defend Jupiter, why wait until this exact moment, right when Jupiter needed supporters to make him look more credible?

A little suspicious, don't you think?

Another thing that stands out is how vague Paige’s comment is. She simply said she wrote “negative things” about Alice and Jupiter out of anger and later apologized. But in reality, she didn’t just make a few negative remarks, she called them both liars and described Jupiter as controlling, which are serious accusations. Yet she offered no clear context or explanation for why she would say something so specific and damaging if it wasn’t true. Anger can lead people to say harsh things, but it surely doesn't lead people to throw serious accusations like Paige did.

Jupiter's Sprialpattern Link

A couple of weeks ago, Jupiter and a lot of anonymous accounts with zero followers (presumably created by Jupiter himself) started sharing a Spiralpatterns link. On that website, there are a bunch of recordings of a phone call between Shan and Jupiter in which she “confesses” to having lied about Jupiter for Crystal Castles. The call took place on September 27, 2024. At first glance, it might seem like Shan’s confession is the truth, but there’s counterevidence that proves the contrary. In June 2024, Shan publicly exposed Jupiter Keyes. However, the original link to the first statement was taken down for unknown reasons. Later, on September 7th, Shan reuploaded her statement to Imgur. The Spiralpatterns link claims Shan and Jupiter had their phone call on September 27th. Why would Shan not take down her statement against Jupiter if she had confessed that she lied for Ethan Kath and Edith Frances? Unless the confession wasn’t genuine at all.

Jupiter asking Shan how she’ll “fix that” (referring to her public “lie”) proves that Shan didn’t call Jupiter “unannounced,” unlike what the Spiralpatterns link claims. It was all planned and scripted from the very beginning. Note how Shan sounds extremely stressed. She’s trying very hard to make up lies to appease Jupiter’s narrative. But why?

When the Spiralpatterns link came out, Shan stated that she was under the influence of ketamine when she had that phone call with Jupiter. It’s important to know that Jupiter has a history of telling Shan to get high on cocaine before writing positive things about him, so the drugs would make her feel happier and more compliant. It’s possible that Shan was on ketamine for the same reason.

Shan also stated that Jupiter threatened her with more women being harmed if she didn’t confess. Is that what an innocent person does? It’s also important to note that fear, drugs, and trauma bonding can lead you to do anything your abuser wants. Let’s not forget that Jupiter has a degree in psychology and that he’s worked in orphanages full of traumatized children. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Jupiter admitted to having ketamine with Shan when he flew out to Australia back in 2022.

In her statement, Shan describes how Jupiter took out a plate of ketamine and sexually abused her after she had passed out from the drug. Later, in one of the recordings on Spiralpatterns, Shan claims that both she and Jupiter passed out.

Even if you take that version at face value, the fact remains that Jupiter created a situation where Shan couldn’t consent. Jupiter bought drugs when he arrived in Australia, keeping both himself and Shan constantly drugged. That is calculated exploitation and control. Jupiter has a degree in psychology. He fully understands the effects these drugs have on the brain. The fact that ketamine is often used by sexual abusers because of those effects is certainly not a coincidence.
