I saw [JUDE AVERY] at a coffee shop in [BROOKLYN] today. I forgot how much [HE] looks like [SEBASTIAN STAN]. They are a [THIRTY-SEVEN] year old [ATTENDING SURGEON] who’s been in NYC for [HIS WHOLE LIFE] now. Every time we run into each other, they are always [KIND AND HUMBLE] but I’ve heard people say they can also be [SENSITIVE AND NEUROTIC]. [FATHER AND SON BY CAT STEVENS] reminds me of them every time it comes on the radio.

- Jude is the first and only son of Joseph and Ruth Avery, a fact that holds significance considering his family’s lineage.
- He was born into a dynasty of sorts, his parents married to join together two families that were prominent in the world of business, law and politics. As such, there were countless expectations put onto him. Even as a young boy, he was often reminded of the mantle he would one day take. His parents did more to train him than they did to raise him. Suffice to say, Jude never had a good relationship with them.
- He carried those expectations with him all throughout his adolescence, and it took a toll on him. Luckily, he had a sense of who to surround himself with; good influences that grounded him and kept him on the straight and narrow. Jude counts himself lucky, that the wealth of his family never got to his head. His life could have gone any which way, had he turned out to be like most of the children of his parent’s friends and colleagues.
- Jude had every intention of following through with what was expected of him, seeing no other option. With hopes of getting his parent’s approval, he began his academic pursuits in law. Though, he had quickly become discontent with his choice. He craved to care for people; to be a person of service. And selfishly, he had wanted to stray away from the values of his family; their hunger for power and money. Those factors motivated him to explore other options.
- He eventually came to the conclusion that the field of medicine was his calling, much to the dismay of his parents. Falling out of the so-called obligations he had to his family rendered him the black sheep.
- To further this newfound title of his, Jude had a child out of wedlock. The relationship that conceived his daughter is not one he likes to talk about, considering the fact that it ended with him as a single father. Still, he has no regrets when it comes down to it.
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓
- Jude still has the family name looming over him, sometimes garnering unwanted attention and manifesting pre-conceived ideas, but he takes it all in stride; more content now than ever before.
- He has managed to distance himself from his relatives, keeping mostly to himself for the benefit of his and his daughter’s wellbeing. There is contact between Jude and his parents, but it is rare and most often hostile in manner.
- Ultimately, he found success in his chosen field. He struggles to find balance between his work and social life, but...he’ll get there.
- Despite his love for his work, his daughter is his number one priority always. Oftentimes, if you want to see Jude, you’ll have to see her too. Though, he is wildly protective of her and only lets the people he trusts to really form any bond with her. He takes no risks when it comes to his daughter.
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘
- Possessing a subtle sort of charisma, Jude is passionate and headstrong. Admittedly, there are times which these can translate into stubbornness.
- Jude has strong, paternal instincts. Whether toward his friends or stray animals, he is very inclined to act upon them.
- He is a workaholic, though this isn’t necessarily something that he is able to identify himself.
- Jude has a clear vision of what he wants to put out into the world, and with that a very strong system of values. He is altruistic, and is very much a helper and a leader.
- In saying that, Jude tends to be overly idealistic. Because of this, he can get himself into situations where he is unable to make decisions; fearing making the wrong one.
- He also has a tendency to be overly-critical (mostly toward himself). But when it comes to others, he is patient and supportive like no other.
- Jude is a hopeless romantic. He is convinced that that part of him died and left along with his ex, but it’s still very much there. It’ll resurface when the right person comes along.
𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒
- He has a cat !! A three-legged stray that he found and had no intention of keeping (considering his work schedule), but came to fall in love with. That, and his daughter begged him. He can never say no to her.
- He’s a smoker, but he swears up and down that he’s quitting…he’s trying, at the very least.
- Forever stuck listening to 80′s music. Very big Taylor Swift enthusiast, though.
- He’s a huge stresshead. Luckily, he has healthy outlets for those emotions — running (which he does every morning) and boxing.
- Probably knits. He’s steady with his hands.
- Loves rom-coms. The more predictable, the better.
Stevie: Don't sweat it! She's such a peach. I love her to pieces, and trust me, the feeling is mutual there 😭
Stevie: Fingers crossed!
Stevie: Spaghetti was the request, I am trying to figure out what veggies to feed her today. Any suggestions? Preferences? ☺️ And yes, Tangled again! Can't complain, though, it is a good movie!
Stevie: Really Jude, don't worry about it. You know I'd do anything for the two of you.
Jude: So I'm chopped liver to you two now, huh?
Jude: Spaghetti sounds so good right now. The food at the cafeteria today is...not it. But! Pumpkin is a very big favourite in the Avery household as of late. And eggplant. Very odd for a child, but I can't really complain.
Jude: The same goes for you. Always.
Jude: ...Just nothing that involves spiders. That's where I draw the line.
It wasn’t unusual for Jude to see the woman roaming the halls of the paediatric ward. Cece had been a regular visitor; the favourite of the kids. Though, now having two of her own at home, and young ones at that, he figured she would slow it down. Certainly, her dedication to the cause had been admirable. It pushed him to want to do more, himself. But he worried for his friend; hoped that amidst it all, she found time to care for herself as well as she did for others. He just wasn’t sure she did.
“Cecelia,” came the playfully disapproving tone of the male, arms crossing as he leant his weight against the threshold of the door, “Didn’t expect to see you here today.” @cwlsh
Stevie: hey! A quick update, babygirl's homework is done so I'm taking her to the store to buy some stuff for dinner!
Stevie: I might end up taking her back to mine after to watch a movie, you should definitely join us if you have time! 😊🍿
Jude: Stevie, you are godsent.
Jude: No wonder why you're her favourite 🤕 I swear, even on my off days she's wanting to be with you.
Jude: Absolutely, I will come join. Fingers crossed I get home at a reasonable time. What's on the menu, tonight? Is she asking to watch Tangled again?
Jude: I know I've said it about a million times now, but thank you for watching her on such short notice. I'll make it up to you, promise.
𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐅 her life remained deeply rooted in Manhattan, there was positively no point in denying that Aubrey was spending a lot more of her time in Brooklyn now than ever. It was almost funny how quickly she had found her favorite little coffee shop in a place that seemed so very far removed from her own apartment. The fact that she was already finding herself on a total first name basis with the barista and didn’t even really have to state her usual order whenever she walked into the establishment a sure testament to just how frequently she visited. And just how many times Finley had actually convinced her to stay over.
As much as the brunette had been trying to pay full attention to her surroundings between hurriedly crossing the road and flirty text messages, the inevitable clash of walking straight into someone that shortly followed was only further proof that her head had been far too much up into the clouds as of late. As her gaze fell on the one person she had just so happened to very abruptly bump into. Right outside of the little corner cafe’s entrance. “I’m so sorry— I really should have watched where I was going,” she breathed out, a soft smile left to play on her lips as thankfully, it was someone familiar. Someone whose company she had always really appreciated. And she had sorely missed over the last couple of months. “I guess I must have some pretty impeccable timing.” ( @holdeneverett )
The hole in the wall café had been Holden’s go to for as long as he had lived around the area. He could have made his way to it with his eyes closed. And really, trudging through the streets half asleep after a particularly gruelling shift, he practically had been. He should have gone home and rested first — he could hear Stevie’s voice in his head saying so. But he needed coffee. Real coffee, not the watered down version they had in the hospital cafeteria. Holden reasoned with himself that it would simply be an in and out sort of affair, though running into her; he knew that wouldn’t be the case. Luckily for him, the shock of seeing Aubrey at all had him fully awake and ready for whatever their chance encounter had in store. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
“Aubrey.” The astonishment in his voice couldn’t be concealed, nor in the expression of his face. Holden didn’t know why it didn’t occur to him that she would be around. He should have been more prepared. Once the initial surprise had worn off, his features melted into that of a gentle smile; reluctant, but very much sincere. “I suppose that would depend on whether you wanted to see me or not.” It was weird, being around her and not knowing how to act. Where he would once not hesitate to envelop her into his arms, he found himself being too invasive even with the hand upon her forearm steadying her. Unsure, he settled with an affectionate squeeze as a greeting. “Are you just coming into the area, or heading back home?” In other words, did she have time to talk? Would she even want to?
He greeted her with an apologetic smile, worn upon his face even before the door had swung open. Of course, the visit had been planned, but their arrival had been earlier than what was agreed upon. And though the last thing he wanted was to intrude on her time, there simply was no denying his daughter of her wishes to see her godmother sooner rather than later.
“I know we said seven, but...” Holden was cut off before he even had the chance to finish, his little carbon copy running at her and hugging her legs with a delighted squeal. He shrugged, lifting the bags he held in his hand, “I brought wine. And three different types of pie, I didn’t know which you’d prefer.” @ofkaiiz
van gogh: where is your go-to positive place when you’re feeling down/sad and what do you usually do?
❝ I love going to the OB department at the hospital and visiting the newborns. It’s also quite therapeutic to see the children staying at the Pediatrics department. Of course, knowing why they’re there isn’t a cause for joy, but getting to interact with them, and getting to see how hopeful and bright they are despite the circumstances really just...puts things into perspective, you know? ❞
matisse: how do you express your love to your friends/family/significant other?
❝ I’m very much an ‘acts of service’ kind of person. If a loved one expresses a need for anything, I’ll do everything in my power to see that they get it. In saying that, I know that I fall short when it comes to being able to be there all the time for the people that may need me (which, I blame work for). I try to make up with that with little gifts and knick knacks. ❞
degas: in a garden full of all sorts of flowers, which one will you pick?
harring: what is your all-time favorite band, movie, and painting?
❝ Oh, man. There are so many bands that I could say are a favourite: Chicago, Air Supply, R.E.M. The least lame of them all might be New Order, so I’ll go with them. As for a movie, I’d say it’s a tie between Karate Kid and Dead Poets Society. Depends on the mood. And favourite painting..? I haven’t thought all that much about it. Is The Scream too much of a cliche? ❞
renoir: is you heart occupied right now? describe him/her/them.
❝ Absolutely. Has been for eight years now. She is all the best parts of me, and so much more. ❞
botticelli: what is that one moment in your life that makes you feel proud?
❝ The first time I ever held my daughter. She was the smallest thing ever, and I remember feeling so in awe that I had any part in creating something so sweet and delicate. I don’t know if any other accomplishment could ever come near. ❞
