author's note: I canβt apologize enough for the insanely long wait on this chapter! Iβve been writing the series out of order and filling in all the blanks as I go, so putting chapters together has been time-consuming (huge shoutout to all the time Mikala has spent helping me make this work). long story short there is a lot more written and coming soon! feedback is always very appreciated <3
P.S. I went back and updated Chapter 1 so it might look a bit different now

βWhen I was a tribute, Mags asked both of us what we wanted. Other than winning, that is. What could she help us get out of the games?β
βIβd rather you just get me out of the games,β Annie countered.
βThereβs no getting out of the games,β Finnick said bitterly, deflating her. He noticed this and shook his head regretfully. βI thought the same way, is what I mean. But, youβll come to realize thereβs more to it than that.β
βI wish your advice wasnβt so patronizing, Finnick. I might be inclined to take it,β her attitude was apparent but he smiled to himself, somehow encouraged. She continued. βI want them to see me for who I am. I wonβt put on some Capitol persona or play down my strength. I want everyone to know I can win, pitilessly.β
He already knew she could win. There was no piece of this plan he could offer that would give her what she wanted. Would she resent him for involving her in all of this? Would she be willing to give up her chances and trust Finnick of all people?
