Hi! I’m not sure if this sounds weird or not but I have a question so basically I make moodboards/banners by getting aesthetic images, quotes, lyrics and Faceclaims off of Pinterest. I add the moodboards to my authors note on AO3 but I’m not sure if it’s copyright because AO3 never emailed me saying anything so I’m sure it’s not but I just wanted a second opinion that way if it is then I’ll remove the moodboards and banners off of AO3

Writers deciding to write Will having a crush on Mike is the point of no return of the show's doom. Because they wanted to explore a young boy's sexuality through crush, but they underestimated how fujoshis move. How obsessed they can get, how mean they can become to the female characters, to everyone who doesn't agree with them, how much they can take your show from you, twist it into something it's not, how angry they can get, and what they can do in that situation. How many of them are there. How much they don't even care about representation, because if they do, they wouldn't be writing femicide fics with Mike killing El.
(I think they should've dealt with Will’s sexuality by making him have a crush on someone else. Write a new character in, it's what st loves best anyway. Fans could've had Will's love story that they wanted that much.)
But yeah, they really didn't know that from that point onward, the loudest online comments regarding the show won't be about the show, about all the plots they wrote, all the characters. They will take that show and twist it into something it's not. They will make you question how to write season five of YOUR show as YOU want, to end it all properly. Season five was bad for so many reasons, and one of them IS those shippers. They sidelined the main couple, kept them apart. They tried to “gentle parent” their way into telling them it's not going to happen by giving their boy powers, making him the main character, spelling it out for them that Mike is his Tammy, and that even Will moved on. And it still wasn't enough.
From the moment they decided to make Will like Mike romantically, the show stopped being sci-fi, action mystery to their shippers, it stopped being sold as what it is. Instead of focusing on the small town having supernatural things messing with everyday life, it became this coming of age, friends to lovers, yaoi love story. Even though it's literally not what it is. But it doesn't matter, posts that rewrite the show, that sidelines every other character and plot, receive the most engagement, tens of thousands of likes, and that's how the show is taken away from its writers. From the fans that love the show for what it is. It doesn't matter if it's all lies, all misinterpretations, more often than not, purposeful. Like I said to my oomf, they can come and say that the sky is green, and since there are so many of them online, that post can get 50k likes. And they will come and bully anyone who knows that's not the truth. The facts are not on their side, but numbers are, and that's all that matters with social media.
I think the whole arc with Will's crush was planned to be finished with s4, when he decided to swallow his feelings and give his best to Mileven. Not the great conclusion for a gay character if you ask me, I think that should've been done way better. But I think that's when it was supposed to originally end. However, so much time between the seasons means countless fan content and posts, and it's a fire they couldn't contain. So now they can't do whatever they want to, because they didn't want people to review bombing s5 from its first episode. They wanted views, they wanted money. So goodbye Mike and El, the heart and soul of the show, hello focusing on Will but only so we can break it gently to the shippers they can't have what they want.
