[Layla shakes her head, still trying to grab his hands] Not only would that be mortifying, you wouldn’t.. [she says between laughing] Stop! I’ll do anything, just stop tickling me.

[Jace smirked, shaking his head] Oh, I would totally do it. And I'd never let you live it down, either. You'd forever be known to me as the girl who laughed so hard she peed. [He refused to let up, raising an eyebrow as she said she'd do anything.] Anything, hmm? [He smirked, looking at her] Give me a real kiss and I'll stop. Scouts honor.

Yeah...I didn't want her to come with me, annoying little sister and all, but you know how she is. Stubborn as all hell.

[He took a deep breath, realizing he'd made things awkward before clearing his throat] So uhm...you haven't by any chance seen Annie around, have you? I feel like it's been a while since I've seen her. Kind of worried about her.

”I know how it is…I really do. People judge you by your appearance, by your cover, but even more, they judge you by your parents. I don’t understand why someone might think that just because our dads did something wrong, we have their genes so we will do the same thing. That’s definitely not true. And it feels awful. You have no idea how many years I was bullied at school. Every time I was feeling dizzy or had a headache, people would immediately assume that I was drinking. Being judged by others when they don’t know a single thing about what’s going on sucks. But don’t worry. We both have our friends and of course, we both have each other. We know what’s true and what is not. What’s real and not. We don’t have to pretend to be okay when we are not. Sometimes we just have to smash something or start crying for no reason. I’m sorry I act like that but, I just feel way better that I’ve said all those things to someone.”

If I'd have known...if I knew people were teasing you...I would have stopped them. You don't deserve that, Riss. You've already been through enough. [He leaned over and kissed the top of her head as his arms were wrapped around her in a tight hug] You're amazing, Rissa. Don't forget that. Ever.

[shakes her head as he starts to tickle her] No. No.. [she starts to laugh as she tries to wiggle away and out of his reach] What? What are you going to do? Tickle me to death?

[Jace smirked as she laughed, continuing to tickle her and following her as she moved away] Not to death, I wouldn't want that. Murder is a messy thing to have on one's hands. Till you pee your pants, however...that's another story.

Oh, I couldn’t, huh? [She raises her eyebrows and sits up] We’ll see about that. [tries to catch his hand when he pokes her but instead moves closer to him, poking his side in retaliation]

[Jace shook his head] Nope. There's no way. [he smirked as she poked him back and reached over, starting to tickle her sides] Listen here, smartass...

”Did you ever try asking your mum about it? Learn her side of the story? What he did…leaving you behind with your little sister…was terrible. I know exactly what it feels like being left alone. My dad was a fucking drunk, remember? It was his fault that he was driving that night when both of my parents were killed. This stupid drunk cost me my parents and left me alone with my twin brother, Mark. So believe me, I know how it is. At least you had a mother for support. I had nothing. Wouldn’t you want to meet your half-brother, though? You didn’t have to strive to be perfect. You were perfect in your own way. You still are. I will always be here for you, you know that, right?”

He cheated on her. Had an affair with my teacher. ...my fucking third grade teacher. He...he had every chance to come back. We didn't leave anywhere. Not until we couldn't afford the house anymore. Then we moved to the small house. Two bedrooms that my mom and Annie need to share a room even though I said I'd sleep on the couch so they didn't need to worry about that. My mom is my hero. She does everything she can to make sure Annie and I have everything we need. We may not have the most money in the world or the best stuff or the nicest clothes, but we get by. ...I don't want to meet him. He has his own life. I've seen him before. Never said hi. Pretty sure he doesn't even know we exist. I just...I don't want to end up like him. That's why...when people look at me, find out that I've had a girlfriend for as long as I did and then find out we broke up...they automatically think I cheated, considering who I am. But I wouldn't...I'd never do that. Put someone through as much pain as my mother went through. ...I know, Riss. And I'll always be here for you.

[Nodding, a smile grows onto her face] Thank you. Like I said, nice save. [she points at him, raising her eyebrows] Hey! Don’t underestimate us tiny girls. We’re tougher than we look. [she jokingly gave him a threatening look before laughing]

Oh, please. I'd like to see you try. You're like...the size of my bicep, Lawls. You couldn't hit me if you tried. [He smirked, reaching over and poking her side gently]

”You are one of the most awesome and good guys I know and I’m totally sure that you will find that girl you are looking for. And once you do, she will be one hell of a lucky girl. Believe me, there aren’t many guys that really care about us women at all. They just see us as sex symbols, something that is sexist and unfair as fuck. My dad was not perfect either…but you should not hold a grudge against him. If I learned one thing from him is that everybody deserves a second chance. I just hope that you will bring me waffles and watch movies with me when I’m sad as well. Though, I’m a more of action movie type rather than a Disney one.”

He doesn't want a second chance, Riss. He left. Walked out. Annie and I...we were seven and eight. Woke up to my parents screaming at each other and my dad breaking something...I think it was a vase, and he stormed out of the house with a suitcase, didn't come back. Didn't say goodbye. We just watched him drive off and he didn't turn around or come back for us. The next time we heard from him, he had a new wife and a new baby. A boy, who, as far as I can tell, is the light of his life. Everything that kid does is perfect in his eyes, and I think back to when I was younger...playing football or running track or doing well in school...nothing was good enough for him. ...guess that's why I always tried harder. Pushed myself more. One of the reasons, at least. He doesn't deserve a second chance, Riss. He left us and doesn't care about us. So...fuck him. 'course I'd bring you waffles and watch movies with you. Any movie of your choice. I'd be there in a heartbeat.

”I was not sure but you just confirmed that I was not so wrong, either. I don’t know. Are island girls your type?”

I dunno. I don't really care what kind of girls they are. I just want someone who'll look past my whole manwhore facade and realize I'm more than that. Someone who'll realize that underneath this really hot body, I'm actually kind of one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. When you're sad, I'll bring you waffles in bed and watch Disney movies with you to make you feel better. And when we go out on a date, I'll get all dressed up, bring you flowers, and be cheesy as fuck. But then there'll be the times when I am just a huge goofball and I do just want to have a good time. And someone who realizes I'm a total Momma's boy and proud of it, and my sister is my best friend and I love her to death and would do anything for her. ...but I want someone to realize I'm fucking terrified of fucking up life like my dad did. ...that I'm scared I'll just become a check on your birthday and a quick 'hey, Merry Christmas' phonecall because I didn't have anyone to show me otherwise and I'm scared being a fucktard is genetic. ...I just want a girl who understands me. That's all.

[Layla smiled and looked away to hide her blushing when he winked at her but looked back when he started speaking] Good save there. [she narrows her eyes at him jokingly] I almost thought you were going to insult me but thank you. Now, I don’t think Anna Banana would be very happy with that.

[Jace chuckled as Layla looked away and stuck his tongue out when she started speaking] Nah, I'm not the type of dude that's gonna insult someone unless they really deserve it. And you, well, you definitely don't deserve it. [shrugging a bit, he glanced around] Well, like I said earlier...I think I lost Anna somewhere around here. Can't find her anywhere. Besides, she's tiny enough that I could fight her off.

[Layla shook her head with a smile on her face as he spoke] Has anyone ever told you how modest you are? Because, really, it’s amazing. [she laughed before sitting up slightly, leaning on her forearms, smiling sofly as she looks at him]

[Jace winked at Layla as she looked at him] You know, I can totally see why my sister keeps you around. Wasn't so sure before, but I can see it now. Pretty face, killer body, sense of humor. Should probably hang out with her friends more often.

[Jace sighed, slightly embarrassed that he had let his soft side show] I know...but I'm not a nerd. I didn't do it for me. Just...remember that.

[trying to act normal, Layla laughed and shook her head at his comment before raising an eyebrow at him] If you’re as impressive in bed as you are dancing, those girls are very lucky. [she joked back before taking the water bottle] No, but maybe I do. [Layla smiled, teasing, before taking a sip and handed it back to him as she started to breathe more normally]

[Jace smirked and wiggled his eyebrows] 'course they're lucky. They've been in bed with me. And I'm awesome in bed, so I mean, yeah. They're pretty damn lucky. [he took the water bottle back and sat up, glancing over at her]

[Layla could feel herself getting dizzy and breathless as they danced but she was having so much that she didn’t want to stop. She wanted to avoid scaring Jace away but she started laughing with him as the next thing she knew, they were on the ground. Rolling off to lie next to him, Layla’s chest felt tight but she disguised her breathlessness with her laughter] Don- Don’t worry about it.. It’s okay. [she said, shaking her head, as she tried to control her breathing]

[Jace smiled as he rolled on his side to look at her, placing his head on his hand] Wore you out there, didn't I? Didn't even need to get you into bed for that. [He winked, only joking around before sitting up, a grin still across his face as he grabbed a water bottle and took a sip before passing it to her] No worried, I don't have cooties or anything. Promise.

[laughs as she looks at him and listens to him sing to her, resting her head on her hand to try to hide the blush on her cheeks as she smiled. She mouthed along to the words as he sang until the chorus when she jumped up and moved next to him, dancing in time with him, as well as singing] Don’t wanna be a fool for you, just another player in your game for two, you may hate me but it ain’t no lie, baby bye-bye-bye.

[Jace laughed as Layla jumped up to join him in dancing and took her hands, twirling her to the music and dancing with her, but he tripped over his sneakers which he had left near the iPod dock. He fell into her, tumbling towards the ground, but managed to make it so that she would land on top of him instead of he on her, and he couldn't help but laugh as they laid there] Sorry...I'm so, so sorry...
