Yo shout out to all of the people in the self ship community right now-

There’s some creepy fuck going around spamming shit like this to not just me but a LOT of other people. I had to turn off anon because they kept filling up my inbox and I was getting tired of blocking and deleting them. My suggestion is just turn off anon since they refuse to show themselves since they know what they’re doing is really pathetic. I can’t post the rest of the shit because it got too detailed and graphic. This person has a really sad existence. Needless to say, if you get an ask from me with anything negative, it’s NOT me.

I self shipped even before I knew there was a term for it. I kept reading/writing OCxCharacter fanfics and mentally inserted myself into the position of the OC's, up until I (re)discovered RPing in college and started shamelessly inserting myself into stories and pairing myself with characters. It's been years, but I'm still a self shipper!

My f/o stopped me from suicide. The 'friendships' I had up until recently were too fragile and fell apart after a ptsd breakdown from myself. I cut ties with everyone and wanted to end myself... until it was like my f/o saying to me. “hey, I love you, you are worth so much more and don't give up because of these people.“ from that day on I started appreciating my life and everyone in it again. I feel alive again and part of it is because of my F/O. I LOVE HIM!

I love to imagine Specter (my f/o: the villain from Ape Escape) of being able to visit me in this real reality. I’m.. severely mentally ill. To the point I can’t leave my home anymore, and imagining and talking out loud to a imaginary monkey fellow, or imagining those little pipo monkeys running around the house like our kids,,, makes me feel less alone.. less like a failure- and really makes me feel loved. Even if I, technically portray him wrong,, I love imagining that I could just, take him away from those evil points in the game- all from the beginning. Somehow take him to a different reality, a world where it’s just him, me and the monkeys. He’s still be a narcissist, a little, and still obsessed with his power over his minions, but he’d be much more.. soft, and open. With me, to take care of me, a inferior little “human”. And,,, agh I love him.

Hi! I would like to say this as someone who makes original characters (and is in the process of making an original story) to everyone who feels insecure about self-shipping. If I publish my content and learn that you not only like my content, but want to part of the world and have some sort of relationship with the characters, I will cry tears of joy. SelfShipConfess - Update

Hey guys!!

Firstly, I’d like to welcome new followers to this blog and I hope you guys enjoy what goes on here. We try to keep things updated, but with all the mods being in school and working, we do go at a slow pace because of it ;;;;;

We would like to inform you all that we are going to be posting confessions next week, March 10th-16th EST due to Mod Nerd 🤓 and Mod Panda 🐼 starting their Spring Break. All mods will try to get all the confessions done during this week, but you will be seeing confessions rendered by mostly Mod Nerd 🤓 and Mod Panda 🐼 due to Mod Pen 🖋 not having her Spring Break until the week after the other mods.

I don’t think anyone in the community doesn’t NOT have merch/content based off their f/o. A lot of people make ITA bags based off a f/o which I think is pretty neat!!

Hey! Trans boy here, Is it wrong that I can see my f/o (mainly link from the loz) help me remember my t shots and things? And I just think of him telling me to remind myself to take care (like shower, eat, and sleep and things ) I've been having anxiety and I've been wondering if it's good to use shipping as a comfort thing

NO IT’S NOT WRONG, THAT IS THE BEST THING!!!! A lot of self shippers use their f/o(s) to help stay healthy and active in their lives outside of social media!! It’s been confirmed by Psychologists that self shipping is a healthy coping mechanism for people that suffer through anxiety, depression, etc. Link would be happy and more than willing to help you out and make sure you take care of yourself and that he’s proud that you are!!!

(I was the 15 years old anon) Thank you for the advice! I love seeing all of these wholesome people gushing about their F/Os; it's absolutely precious! I also feel kinda left out because my F/Os source, Boy Meets World, lasted from 1993-2000; it seriously ended 18 years ago this year!

So uh,, as a trans man- I find it really comforting to have my self insert being a cisman- it makes me feel really good, especially thinking of my f/o complimenting qualities of myself that I’m usually insecure about because of being in the progress of transitioning (having “girly” interests ect,,) I use my f/o to cope a lot but lately I feel so... judged and shunned away for it.

I’m sorry that you feel that way Nonnie. It’s terrible that people treat you like that because you’re just being true to yourself. I’m glad that your self insert and your f/o comfort you. That is the most amazing thing to have to help you get through what you’re going through. I know it’s hard, but we believe in you and support you. I love this community, but it makes me REALLY uncomfortable to see adults shipping with minors, even if they were aged up or f/os they had when they were the same age. It just doesn't seem right; they're KIDS. It's one thing to fondly reminisce about a crush you had as a kid or teenager, but to still look at them as an adult? Of course, this topic also triggers me very badly, so I may not being looking at it with clear eyes, but I still don't want to interact with anyone who does it.

I’m not trying to start up discourse again within the community because everyone has had their fill within the last few months. Anymore discussion about this topic will be deleted on sight after this ask. 

It’s okay to not like people aging up young characters and to no interact wanting to interact with people that do. I’m sorry that it triggers you, but it is how it is. You can’t stop it. Don’t harass (which I’m saying you’re not) someone and forcing them to stop is not the way. You’d be literally asking someone to stop caring for a character they’ve grown up with since their childhood. 

I’ve seen several well known bloggers within the community that age up characters/age down self inserts because they don’t want to give up on characters that they hold dear to their heart.And I know for a fact that several people that aren’t into it follow these people that are (probably with or without them knowing they do) because they like the content they make, which makes the argument invalid and kinda ridiculous to say the least. 

This community is about love and acceptance. People are gonna have an opinion on it that is different from yours, but harassment is not the answer along with indulging in the drama. If you don’t like it, just block/blacklist and move on. Stop the drama before it even starts and settle it like adults. I’ve been in this community since it began on Tumblr and I’ve seen this topic come up within the 2+ years; if not more; it’s been here. It’s been that bad since what had transpired in the past few months. It just causes more drama and people are gonna get hurt because they just want it to stop.

This blog supports aging up characters (to an extent). This blog is accepting for everyone within the community and the other Mods and myself try to keep it that way. If you don’t like how we do things around here, I recommend unfollowing this blog. I wish I had more friends that were supportive, I’d love to be supportive of someone and their f/o, and have them support me and mine- as an artist that’d be fun for crossover art too... but I haven’t met anyone who’s kind- or even been to far in this community yet. It makes me sad

Its tough. Only a small handful of people know that I do self insert art. Hell, even my parents know that I do this (thats because I post on Instagram and some on Facebook). You just gotta keep an eye out for those you trust fully and that they will accept your interests. You have a family here at selfshipconfess, never forget that. If you want to talk, gush, spaz, geek out, etc. about your favorite character, just contact me or the other mods. We’ll listen!
