I don’t know where to start, and I don’t know where to finish with this photo as I could write a short story about what I love about it. So simple, actually amazing in it’s simplicity, yet so complex and deep that’s it’s like the essence of photography beautifully laid out in one place for all to admire, and indeed learn from. Simple in the fact that we just see three rather ordinary objects as basically the whole photo, but married together beautifully by some inspired thinking about composition and camera set up. I’m always a lover of the smallest object in a photo dominating the larger, and here it’s perfect, with the tiny baby flower taking pride of place over the fallen giant and the house in the distance. Which leads me seamlessly into the ‘deep’ I referred to. So deep in the sense that we see three stages of Mother Nature under the relentless hand of man. It’s born, we let it grow, and then we destroy it if it suits our needs, represented by the tree stump and the wooden house. Going even deeper, the house being out of focus and Mother Nature being in focus is a great representation of what’s really important, and where all of our attentions should fall as guardians of our beautiful Earth, because if we keep destroying at this rate, then like the house that represents ‘us’ in the photo, we will just be a blur and a memory. And to end on an even deeper note, the new sprouting flower can represent that if that day does come, and we do indeed become just a memory, that eventually the earth will grow again. As I said, I could go on. Have I mentioned that I adore the b/w finish yet!!! Beautiful work my friend,:)).
