I have never heard music, but my heart sang under your notes ( chapter 5 + N/A)
Since the day of the incident, which was yesterday, she hadn't talked about it to either Mr. Edward or her sisters; she was used to it by now. When she and her aunt were in town, she had received a lot of it throughout her school years. She had lost a lot of self-confidence and had suddenly become shy. Besides, she hadn't talked about it to anyone either. But she didn't want to dwell on her past.
Today, she had to get ready for her interview with the St. Louis family (fake name). She got up early and prepared herself. She put on her nicest dress, combed her red hair, styled it in a simple braid, and wrapped it with a ribbon the same color as her dress. She twirled around like a little girl.
Then she quickly but efficiently did her chores and prepared breakfast. While she was getting ready, she greeted her father, who had just woken up, and Mr. Edward, who had just arrived home.
She served coffee and tea that she had made the day before and served it; the girls and her mother were awake.
Euphrosine hugged Laura and gave her a kiss on the forehead followed by a little blessing on the forehead. Mary received the same treatment as her little sister.
Breakfast took place in the morning silence, and it was corn bread with freshly made corn jam. The family ate with appetite while Euphrosine ate only half a portion, not very hungry. Afterward, Mary and Laura cleared up and Mary helped Euphrosine with the dishes; Euphrosine hurried to finish her chore.
She dried her hands on her apron and put it back on the counter.
She told her mother that she had to go do something in town, and her mother replied with a long and tedious prose speech. She finally managed to escape, said goodbye to her sisters, Pa, Ma, and Mr. Edward, and set off walking towards the road to Independence,
the path was the same as usual, there was always that green-orange grass, those trees, and those streams. She started to hurry, not wanting to be late for her first appointment; that wouldn't make a good impression and wouldn't be worthy of a servant.
Once she arrived at the gates of Independence, she sighed, finally relieved, and her stress had now turned into relief.
She walked and greeted some passersby; old men tipped their hats to her while their wives gave her smiles. She passed in front of well-off family homes.
A blue and white house stood before her; this house was majestic, the kind she had always dreamed of owning and living in if only she married a man of some wealth.
She climbed the few steps leading to the front door and knocked twice. A butler opened, and she introduced herself to the man; he had short black hair, and the skin as pale as a corpse, she was dressed in a typical black and white suit of a valet or butler in Great Britain. He led her inside and asked her to wait in the small living room.
Which she did. The living room had 2 sofas and blue armchairs, a small table with arranged flowers. There was also a fireplace with photos on it—she was a fan, photography was for the nobility or good families. She dreamed of having photos of herself, her family, landscapes, her friends, or others. Otherwise, there were paintings of their ancestors and also landscapes. Her analysis was interrupted by the arrival of the lady of the house and her husband. They sat on the sofa across from Euphrosine.
The lady of the house introduced herself first: 'Abigail de St. Louis, and this is my husband Alfred de St. Louis,' Abigail said, extending her hand to Euphrosine.
She accepted it and introduced herself in return: 'Euphrosine Ingalls.'
'That's a beautiful name, where does it come from?' she asked.
'from France, that means euphoric in French, more often called happiness or joy,' informed Euphrosine.
'You must be the joy of your parents, I suppose,' Alfred guessed. '
Yes, I suppose so too,' Euphrosine said shyly.
'Why do you want to join this family, work here? I guess you're of marrying age,' asked Abigail.
'My parents have debts and money problems, and I don't have a suitor yet, so I want to help them,' Euphrosine replied.
'That's an honorable cause,' the man declared.
'But I must tell you, I have a disability... uh... I have been deaf since birth...' she revealed.
'That's not a problem,' the couple said.
'You'll start tomorrow; if it doesn't bother you, at least you'll have time to get used to it,' the woman interrupted.
'Oh, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,' the young girl exclaimed joyfully.
The girl left the house where the sun was about to set, making way for its beautiful spous .The moon. The couple and Euphrosine had talked a lot about everything and anything, especially about independence, and they had even invited her for tea, which she did not refuse. This couple was an adorable pair and were not the type of family to treat their maid, servant, valet, or anyone else like trash or good-for-nothing.
She hurried along the path back home, hoping not to run into any unwanted guests. She walked for about fifteen minutes and heard vibrations behind her.
She turned around and saw a young man on a horse, none other than Little Puma.
"happiness , why are you here at this hour? Shouldn't you be at home?" asked Little Puma as he rode toward her.
"You'll get home late if you walk the whole way."
"I have no other choice."
"I don't know how to ride a horse, and it's improper for a woman."
"You and your rules settlers..."
"Let me bring you back" said Little Puma
Little Puma followed her close on horseback, he did not take his eyes off her. why do you follow me" "I don't want you to meet any bad encounters" she continued to walk, while Little Puma continued to follow her closely, not wanting to lose her, for 5-10 minutes they continued like this, then suddenly Little Puma stopped his horse and jumped to the ground, Euphrosine thought she was finally free from him, But Little Puma took her by the waist, which made her let out a cry, he carried her to his horse and lifted her up and aimed her at the horse in amazon, while he mounted behind her.
"You're really stubborn"
Little Puma said to the immediate one but Euphrosine couldn't hear him, and yelled at him to get her down but Little Puma didn't listen and continued on the way to the Ingalls' house
notes; Sorry for the little chapter, I hope this last scene isn't worthy of a pervert or a toxic man, otherwise I would need you for a poll to know what happens next in the story because I can't decide.
I’d like there to be a bit of tension, so would you like there to be a love triangle or many suitors? ...
many suitors
who would you like to see with Euphrosine (multiple choice if there are several candidates and answer in the comments)
- adam sccoot
- son of lady and sir de St louis
- another osages
-city boy who moved to Independence
- random boy

Hello, so sorry, this is not a chapter but some points about my story, the character, etc. . .
First of all, Euphrosine does not have a particular actress who plays her, but she does have 3 traits that need to be taken into account: she has curly red hair, a gap in her teeth, and freckles. I don't really go into much detail about this in the story nor provide a lot of description (which my French teacher kept nagging me about all the time), but I try to do as much as I can.
If there is any inconsistency in the story, it's either because it was clear in my head but not at all on paper, or because since I write in French, my native language, I'm much more comfortable with it, but when I translate it into English it can cause some inconsistencies, and I am sincerely sorry about that.
Also, there have been lots of questions about my character's deafness: I didn't specify, but she reads lips, which is why there are dialogues, or else Dialogue that specifies that this is signed online. And also, I've already said it, but when there are signs, describing them will be in French Sign Language (LSF) because I'm learning it, so it's easier for me and I didn't want to make a mistake describing international signs (ISL).
If there are scenes where characters talk to them and they respond—for example during a hug (which someone pointed out in a comment)—and you think, 'How can she hear? She's deaf,' it's because the person's lips are visible to them, so they can understand even if I don't specify it, or sometimes there might be mistakes because this is the first time I'm writing with a hard-of-hearing character.
And why I chose a deaf character: first, on Wattpad, even Tumblr (or books), there is very little representation of this disability with people who have it, especially in a time and context like this, and also it's for a girl that I I know someone who is deaf and I wanted to pay tribute to her in this book (she's not dead!!! I just can't find the exact word) and also, it's a bit of practice to memorize and remember my sign language lessons (which were taught by the girl in question).
If any deaf or hard-of-hearing people read this fanfiction and notice any mistakes, tell me the words and I'll correct them. I hope you see yourself in her and that you're proud of yourself.
bien à vous , Hyacinth
