I think one of my favorite things about the Knives Out movies, as so many have pointed out, is that Benoit Blanc isn’t really the protagonist. He’s the world-class detective, famous for solving unsolvable cases, yes, and he plays a majorly important role in each story we see him in, also true, but he’s not REALLY the person we’re following. So we don’t know much about him PERSONALLY, we just know what our actual protagonists (Marta, Helen/Andi, Jud) can garner about him in the time they know and work with him.
And all this to say, I’m truly OBSESSED with the little bits of information we DO get about Benoit as a person. He’s into fashion, he’s in a relationship with a man named Phillip, he’s terrible at mystery games, he isn’t religious (and we can safely assume that stems from childhood trauma around being a queer, southern man in the church…), and he likes musicals.
Like what a fun little collection of facts to know about him. He was listening to Cats in the car with Jud. He knows how to play Phantom of the Opera on the organ. He has seasonal wardrobes. He’s terrible at mystery themed games (i.e., Clue, Among Us).
What little treasure of information will we learn about him in the next one?? I’m excited to find out.
Benoit blanc is the nanny mcphee for people accused of murder
dude it's just politics, it doesn't matter. all it does is shape every single aspect of the society you live in from the second you are born until forever

have a feeling I'm about to be blocked by the person I said this to so I'll say it here uhh friendly reminder that at this point death of the author cannot apply to Harry Potter because JK Rowling is actively using her billions to donate to anti-trans causes and directly impact legal policies in the UK. She has explicitly stated that she sees support of her work as an endorsement of her anti-trans and antisemitic views. The context in which you apply death of the author matters and the context here is that someone who is actively doing real-time damage to millions of people is using your support of her work to justify her attacks on vulnerable communities. Harry Potter once mattered to me too. It was immensely important to me. But when it came to choosing between a book and cutting off support to a person who is actively aiming for the death of myself and my community, even if I wasn't trans that's not a hard decision to make.
watching gen z and millennials make fun of gen alpha has been torturous. "But they're actually stupid" 1. theyre middle schoolers 2. isn't that what older gens said about us? don't you remember being 11?
it truly is just "impulse reaction to cringe <- has not yet unlearned shame"
the cycle continues let me out of here
guys. guys I think we should kill cringe culture
being transmasc is wild bc what do you mean this morning i woke up and said to myself “as a little treat i wont breathe today”
"i am everyone and everything all of the time" in i can't see anything i don't like about you vs "you can't be everything to everyone but you can be everything to someone" in all you get is confetti
many thoughts. none of them comprehensible.
ok but i'm a committed english language nerd so i've been thinking about the prepositions in all you get is confetti a lot
specifically i'm talking about the chorus, "you can't be everything for everyone but you can be everything to someone"
like i just think the difference between being everything for someone and to someone is so specific and also so massive like. being everything for someone is all you. you're putting in all the work. but to someone? no work on your end you're just there and that's everything. idk i think it's a really cool detail
bears in trees was right
i love my friends
non-bears-in-trees music enjoyer: yeah, i just really like this artists songs and i thing the lyrics are really cool
bears in trees fans: i wanna eat this song. how can i inject this into my bloodstream? these lyrics are in my bones
everyone SHUT UP i’m busy holding onto hope that this gay ship from a 2010s sitcom will be made canon in the next year or so
