hi ❤ it's not quite a full month since my last post on this blog so I'm considering that a win!

Anyway, I have been working on my Morgan time-traveling AU again and it's going really really well! I am having so much fun and I love yapping about it with my friends on discord. (you guys are great hypemen and I am so glad I get to bounce ideas off of you <3)

For a while after Searcher I wasn't sure if this AU was dead or not considering the lore & magic rules we learned that basically uhhh made the entire scenario completely impossible. 😅 but I really love this story and wanted to find a way to write it without COMPLETELY ignoring canon, so I modified the canon rules a bit and I think it works! (And the events of Searcher have helped me figure out where/how I want to end this fic, which is also great! It was very 🤷🏻 before, lol)

Also the way I changed the rules means my dear beloved bosun gets to suffer so much more in this version of the story, and I have been having a lot of fun with that. 🥰

I have made huge progress on my outline recently — I'm up to chapter 21, and I think the plot has... let's say seven arcs. seven, seven plotty arcs! Chapter 21 is the start of the fourth arc, which means I am almost halfway done???*

*I doubt these arcs will all be the same length when fully written, so this is only a rough estimate

It is both exciting and a little scary, because once the outline is done I'll be drafting it for real, and then I'll be badgering a couple of my friends to beta for me, and then I'll be publishing it on ao3... and I've been toying with this idea for MONTHS now, ever since I saw on the wiki that Morgan probably got zapped to New York in TGOA.

aww, poor Jack Of Days Past really went on the pulp wiki right after his birthday and got the disappointing but totally expected news that his favorite character wasn't gonna be in the next episode. 😂💔

but yeah, the fact that this story is getting closer to being an actual thing instead of just an idea in my head is crazy and I'm kinda just sitting here like woahhhhhg... it's happening

I also stayed up until 3 am last night frantically typing because I was in the zone and the words were wording and the plot was plotting so good and I probably shouldn't do that again but I'm ngl there is a good chance that will happen again tonight, lmaooooo

When he had accepted this new position as editor, he knew it would mean more work and more stress in addition to the meager increase in his salary. However, he has to admit he hadn’t anticipated this much extra work. Or extra stress. It’s fine, though—he can handle it, even if he’s suddenly short a reporter. He is handling it! He’s learning and adjusting. He’ll prove himself to his boss and his coworkers, show them that his age doesn’t matter. Because it doesn’t. He may only be twenty-two years old, but he will be just as capable an editor as the man he replaced. That being said, this job would be a little easier to bear if he had something to look forward to when the work was finally done, something to lift his spirits at the end of a long day. OR As the newly promoted editor of the Sun, Benjamin Park is stressed and lonely, but he might have the perfect solution to both his problems. It's super exciting that a lot of the pulp tags on ao3 are canonized now (I did finally go back to my published fic and add some tags I was missing from @tapestryoftrauma's very helpful tag guide like I've been meaning to, lol) and I've been thinking about my Radiant Sunsets blorbos since ep 4 aired so I think I'm gonna get back to working on that series!

My current wip, Keys To The Press And Keys To The Door, is at 2.7k and I would like to finish it so I can get to writing the other parts I'm really excited for. I have thoughts and ideas and a lot of notes thrown together because this series has officially upgraded from my notes app to its own growing doc. 🤩

nobody freak out, but I'm actually making a new post here less than a month after my last one. it's a miracle! anyway.

my pulp musicals brainrot is in full force right now and while most of that energy is going towards art for Pulp Musicals Fortnight 2024 (the event my dear friend Snarky is running this August) I also have multiple fic ideas for pulp that i am really excited for!

Most of them are continuations of my first Pulp Musicals fic, If This Is Truly The End, Then Everything Was Worth It (Even If This Satellite Is To Be Our Grave). oh my god why did I make the title so long, lmao This fic is set in an alternate universe where Benjamin joins the others on their adventure to South America—and beyond, but they don't know that just yet!

I've absolutely fallen in love with this AU, and with Radiant Sunsets (Samuel/Benjamin/Margaret) so I'm actually planning to skip back and write about the relationships between these three & the events leading up to their time together on the Sagitta.

Right now I have no less than ten fics on my to-write list (of varying length! I think some of these are gonna be fairly short, even with my long-winded tendencies), the first of which takes place before episode one. I'm in the process of writing it, and (at least for now) it's called Keys To The Press And Keys To The Door.

(I also have vague plans for one fic set AFTER If This Is Truly The End, and there will be others as well, but I'm trying not to get any further ahead of myself lmao)

The other big fic idea I have is one that I tried (and failed) to hold off on but the brainrot is strong and I've started plotting it anyway lol. I was looking at Morgan's entry on the pulp wiki, saw this—

—and after briefly lamenting the fact that episode 4 probably won't have my favorite bosun who's fairly good at guitar, I started thinking about Morgan trying to find a way back to the Ellen Austin and the year 1874, and then I never stopped. (I have over 5k words on my brainstorming doc. help. 🥲) I'm not quite sure where this one is going yet, and I probably won't start ACTIVELY working on it until after episode 4 is out so I can have more lore to work with, but I am thinking about this idea so much and I am very excited about it.

so, yeah! that's what I've got cooking for writing stuff these days. my other wips are on the back burner (and even these ones are less of a priority right now than all the art I wanna make, I have... so much to do) but I'll get back to them eventually! Probably. I hope. 😅

here's a summary that my friend @snarky-wallflower helped me come up with:

Benjamin usually thinks of the Stratfords and their stories whenever he sees the moon. ... It’s only now, standing in a brick room with Margaret in his arms and looking out at that odd rock—closer than ever and still so far away—that he suddenly becomes fully aware of just how much space Margaret has started to occupy in his mind. These last few weeks, he hasn’t been able to catch even a brief glance at the moon without thinking of her, too, and wondering if she would be watching it that night, if she’d get her answers this time.

OR

In those final hours aboard the brick satellite, Benjamin Park makes amends and falls into the orbit of Samuel Stratford and Margaret Cavendish, fast and bright. (aka, a Benjamin Comes Along AU with a twist!)

okay, it's been almost a week since I got back into writing mode, and the words have honestly been flying. started chapter 9 of The World's Greatest Spies tonight, and the current draft is nearly up to 29k!

I think the last thing I was actively working on was 111 Waylon so here's one of the most recent lines from that:

There were only a few times over the course of their lifelong friendship where Jason found himself deeply, bitterly envious of Kyle, but this was definitely one of them.

made quite a bit more progress on my outline for part 1: The World's Greatest Spies !!! things are coming together and I'm really starting to plug some of the big gaps in it. currently have up to chapter 10 figured out before the first gap (that gap is Smaller now, I am slowly but surely closing the distance between the sections that are more thoroughly outlined, hooray 💪🧠)

I've started writing chapter 6! 🎉
