Jack and his mother, Amelia Thurner, live in a cozy cottage near a Mediterranean kingdom in southern Italy. Jack himself is an adventurous type who dreams of hopefully becoming a knight and finds himself encountering colossal dangers and some bone-chilling close calls, up in the Realm of the Giants.

Above the clouds live the Blunderbore sisters, Gianne the Cloud Giant, Mollie the Harp, and Gwen the Goose. Gianne is a tyrannical rich girl who's out for revenge against the tiny humans after the death of her father, but she slowly starts to soften up to Jack's nature. Her "girlfriends", Mollie and Gwen, often act as her servants and minions.
