Andy Kaufman Vs. Jerry Lawler [April 5th, 1982]

Andy Kaufman’s arrival in Memphis, Tennessee to the glorious world of professional wrestling had the whole world buzzing. With a true eye for entertainment, Kaufman’s ability to generate a reaction was second to none. Kaufman’s focus was being the “Intergender Wrestling Champion Of The World”, offering $1,000 to any woman in the crowd who could accomplish the feat of pinning him. After having wrestled several women in the Memphis CWA territory, he was challenged by the top dog: Jerry “The King” Lawler. Kaufman made a mockery of Lawler leading up to the big match, but after a piledriver from The King, Kaufman had no choice but to shut his mouth as he was stretchered out of the ring!

Despite Lawler accomplishing what he’d set out to do, the victory went to Kaufman by disqualification.
