Lucy was going on about her normal routine at work, baking pastries, occasionally helping customers when it was busy, the usual. Most everyone she saw, or at least the people that chatted with her were returning customers and it was nice to see how they were doing, what was new, you know, normal small talk stuff. Hearing the bells on the door jingle when someone walked in, Lucy couldnât help but smile when she saw who it was. She knew Jack hadnât been in town that long, or at least he didnât start coming here until recently, and he always seemed to go out of his way to talk to her, which she was very excited about. He was nice and handsome and charming, her coworkers teased her about how she talked about him but Lucy could swear she just admired him. As Jack walked up to the counter, a smile grew on her face âJack! Hello!â She walked up to the bakery counter to meet him, knowing what he was here for âIâve got apple or cream cheese danishes right now. I had more but theyâre been selling like crazy.â
Jack outwardly contemplated the choices she gave him more than he should have. Flicking a coin and catching it in his palm idly in thought. Finally his grin settled before he answered her. âIâll take an apple Danish please.â He creaks his neck and motions with his head towards an empty table. âCan you take a break from manning the front for a bit?â After he placed the coinage down on the table for his own Danish and coffee, he added a bit more currency it would cost to get the second Danish. Turning his dialect to his original way, âNÇ kÄyÇ chÄ« dÄnmĂ i nÇiyĂłu nÇilĂ o.â He winks to her again before he walks over to the empty table placing the coffee and Danish in front of him with a few napkins.
