Jack!Steven AU

This is a Steven Universe AU, however it is still a WIP, so hold your horses! We'll get to it soon. This AU is a product of a discussion by @wisepuma23, @zend-pixie, @waxuki and @skys-bucket

how is that box capable of trapping a diamond? that's a scary powerful box right there. is it similar to lazuli's mirror?

Mirrors were never patented as they first appeared in ancient Greece, which was pre-gemwar. Though I guess if it's a home world trap then that make sense, but the mirror was an interrogation device, what purpose does the wind up toy hold.

Well, you would have a point there, if... that were true. The Gem War started at around 4000 BC (6000 years ago), and lasted 1000 years - ending at around 3000 BC (5000 years ago). So, in conclusion, mirrors were still made by gems first, and the Gem War was not before Ancient Greece. And even if they weren't, humans wouldn't have figured out how to make a mirror frame look that fancy for at least another 3000 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  sorry, we don’t make the rules!

Jack-in-the-box's were invented in the 1500's, did Steven's gem move? Because if he's been around since 500 years post gem war, then he would show up in the viking era, roughly. Well before the first one. If so, has Steven's gem been in other objects before this.

Well, we're going off the headcanon that human jack-in-the-boxes were inspired after the gem ones! (which is the kind of j-i-t-b that Steven's gem is stuck in). 

I mean, think about it - when were mirrors invented? In 1835. That's definitely a long time after Lapis was trapped in one

So, to answer your question, no - this box is the only gem-trap he’s been in.

Hah yeah that’s,, on me. I’m having a difficult time with files, lining, the program crashing, deadlines, and small things in my personal life, the sketch for the page is completely done, but it may be a while longer before anything besides asks get done.
