Hola, Im jack but Y'all can call me Abbott. Yes, my leg is gone. Used to be a war medic, thats how I got this sick ass metal. Ask me questions, just not medical questions. I ain't at my job, I dont want to hear about it.
Yall be safe out there or I'm hittin' you with this
Sylvia’s first few days of days were going well, sure there was minor drama or how it messed up her sleep schedule beyond repair. The change of pace didn’t help much, she was still upset barely making eye contact with other and constantly leaving as soon as possible.
Then came a day where she could no longer avoid hand overs, Sylvia was busy charting some of the last patients her mind still buzzing from the drama, the “abbot incident” as she so called it. With a tired sigh the young woman spun in her chair, walking to check on a patient only to bump into a familiar face.
“Sorry excuse me -“ she slowly looked up, staring up at the nurse before blinking away the shock. “Oh.. hi Noah I didn’t know you worked today.”
(Sorry it’s kinda ass)
@drlennox
noah blinked, shifting awkwardly on his feet as he stared down at sylvia for a few seconds. he didn't expect to be face-to-face with her so soon, even if it had been a few days. it wasn't like he blamed her for anything; he wasn't mad, he was just upset at everything, at the whole situation, and she was one of the people he knew he could take it out on. the surprise quickly dropped from his face, and was replaced with a cold front, though his voice dropped to a soft murmur, almost a whisper. "yeah, 'm working today," he said, shifting back again, his hands instinctively reaching for the pockets of his scrubs to make himself appear less awkward. "so.. hand-offs?" he finally asked after a few moments of the awkward silence, his eyes flickering to the screen behind the doctor. (noo this is goated bro omg)
Sylvia frowned slightly she didn’t blame Noah for looking at her the way he side, but that didn’t mean it hurt any less. With a small sigh the doctor nodded, there was a part of her that wish he’d just yell instead of the looks of absolute despair. She looked away, brown eyes staring down at her shoes a small frown on her face.
“Yea.. hand-offs, i actually have a few patients I was hoping to get a second opinion on- but I can’t find Robby or Al-hashima. I can’t even find Dana.” She shifted awkwardly, there was to many feels bubbling up whenever she look up at his face. “Care to uh.. take a look? Since you’re probably going to end up on these , then you’ll be able to help night shifts charged nurse.”
Slowly she brought her gaze up a hopeful yet exhausted look was pull tight on her feature.
noah fidgeted awkwardly with his hands, looking quickly at his surroundings to see if there was any possible escape from this interaction, but she was right; he couldn't see any of the nightshift doctors, or even the nightshift charge nurse, yet. he let out a soft sigh, stepping back a step or two, and silently nodded, his head already hanging kind of low. "i'm not a doctor, but i can look, i guess," he replied, meeting her eyes again, only to see the exhaustion that was pooling on her face, a small part of him felt bad, he knew the situation was probably taking a toll on her too, but he pushed it back down and focused on the hand-offs for now.
“I know, but it’s better than nothing.” She spoke gently lacking her usual spark, Sylvia started walking to the patient room leading Noah over. “Thank you Noah, I just want to get out of here and sleep.”
Sylvia looked over her shoulder at Noah, she couldn’t help but frown at his expression he looked so tired and knowing she partially caused it made her want to throw up. She kept an even pace despite the exhaustion in her shoulders, the awkward silence was killing her. The young doctor cracked the joints in her hands, before fidgeting with them awkwardly.
“How’s night shift been? I mean, I haven’t spoken to really anyone after I swapped over .. Days are actually pretty nice, of course I miss everyone but working with day shift isn’t bad.”
noah bounced on his feet, sucking in a breath as sylvia tried to make small talk as he followed her around the department. he shrugs, running a hand through his hair. "eh, hit or miss, i guess," he replied, trying to avoid her eyes. "y'know.. nothing really changed i guess.. i've been sticking with shen or ellis and trying to avoid jack.." he added, not really sure why he was telling her that. he shrugged again, tucking his hands in his scrub pockets, letting out an awkward sigh.
“Hey I won’t judge you, I quite literally ran all the way to day shift.. had half the mind to completely transfer.” Sylvia joked but there was a look in her eyes, like she wasn’t completely joking a sad smile tugged on her lips. She lead the nurse into the room, hold the door open for him, the patient seemed to still be asleep. “Right this is Mrs. Grey. She needs a bed upstairs, but it’s take me awhile .. she needs to be monitored.”
Sylvia bit her lips awkwardly chewing on the skin trying to keep herself soothed, looking away she started took a deep breath and made room for Noah look around. She started presenting the case with a dull tone, she didn’t really feel like talking about work but this was the only way to even slightly speak with Noah.
noah hummed along with sylvia's awkward attempt at a joke, ignoring her eyes yet again. the smallest smile etched it's way on his face as he followed behind her into the patient's room, that way the patient would hopefully not pick up on the tension between the two. his eyes flickered back to the doctor as she went on about the case, humming along again, bouncing on the soles of his feet. "i'll keep an eye on her." he says, flashing sylvia a tight smile, like he was still trying to hold back.
Sylvia sighted slightly she didn’t know want to do at this point, the forced smile and his anxious movement left her tensing looking away. With a small sigh she pushed her hair out of her face, muttering something under her breathe while shaking her head.
“Nurse Prince, can you I have a word?” She spoke professionally but there was an undertone of something else. Sylvia started walking away, leading Noah towards the break room closing the door behind them.
noah straightened up as sylvia's tone seemed to change, his eyes flickering over to her as his shoulders tensed. thankfully, the patient was still asleep, or she definitely would've been able to pick at the tension that felt like a heavy weight in the room. he nodded, mumbling something that was probably a 'yeah' under his breath as he followed the doctor out of the patient's room, closing the door gently. he tried his best to not let his head hang down; he didn't want to look like someone who had just been scolded, but his nerves felt shocked. he felt like he was trying to make himself smaller as sylvia closed the door to the breakroom, his heartbeat suddenly in his ears.
“Can you just stop pretending? Even if you scream and yell at me, even if you tell me I’m a horrible person.” Her voice had an edge to it, the whole situation left her rigid and tense unable to relax. “I can’t stand the fake smile, or how you tense when I ask you a question. Fuck just be honest, I can’t take it.”
The doctor sighed softly and crossed her arms with a tired look, she knew apart if it was irrational but she’d rather be hated and screamed at than lied to. Sylvia couldn’t rationalize her feeling anymore not after everything, shaking her head the young woman paced slightly.
Sylvia looked the man in his eyes with a pleading look it might’ve been pathetic but for once she didn’t care. “Just say something, please. I can’t function like this, you can get it all out. Please Noah.” She sighed again tensing and squeezing her own arms, nails digging into the skin as she tried to relax.
noah instantly noticed the exhausted look in sylvia's eyes when he finally made eye contact with her. he leaned against the breakroom wall, his arms crossing over his chest as if he were trying to guard himself. he felt bad for sylvia, really, she was just like him, unaware of whatever was going through jack's mind. how was she supposed to know if jack never told her? he bought up a hand to his face, rubbing at his temple like he was trying to keep a headache at bay. his heart was still beating wildly, like a drum against his chest. "i'm not going to yell at you," he said, trying to keep his voice from being so tense. "this isn't your fault, i just don't know how to face you right now." he added, his voice slightly rougher than before, like he was trying to keep the true emotions back.
Sylvia paused for a moment holding his gaze for a second before looking away, a small sighed escapes her lips the doctor shifted and took a step closer to Noah. She looked into his eyes with a pleading look, Sylvia didn’t care if she was being pathetic she just needed the truth.
“You’re still holding back, just say what’s on your mind. We may not be in the same chef anymore, but not even handoffs are barely like this.” She spoke with an edge while getting closer to Noah, not in his space but close enough to make it apparent. “The way you look at me, how you talk to me .. Noah, I won’t be the only one who notices.”
She bite her lips again out of habit trying to self soothe to manage the tension that was rising, it was nearly crushing taking all the air out of her.
“Please..”
noah wasn't sure why he found himself growing frustrated as sylvia pushed on. really, he wanted to be done with this topic already. he let out a harsh sigh, running his hands over his face. "listen, we barely see each other as it is, no one is going to notice whatever this is," he says, motioning between the two of them.
"i don't know what you want me to tell you, doctor," he added, his lips pulling into a line as he pressed himself back against the wall. "i have nothing to say, i'm not going to yell at you or blame you for something, i'm just not ready for a conversation."
he pushed off the wall after a few moments of silence, the helpless look was still on sylvia's face and he felt bad for being the reason it was there, but he really had nothing for her. he couldn't give her a peace of mind, he couldn't even give himself that right now. "if you excuse me, doctor, i have patients i need to go check on."
“Nurse prince.” Sylvia gritted her teeth sounding much more authoritative than she intended, reaching out she pulled him closer letting go but stayed close. “I need to talk to you, no one’s coding, no one’s calling your name .. we can take a moment to talk.”
She’s signed while crossing her arm taking a deep breath before pinching the bridge of her nose, Sylvia tilted her head at the nurse and kept a eye contact her eyes dropping for a moment before looking back up.
“It’s not helping anyone by letting this build up, word goes around fast and if you can’t even say my name it’s going to make people ask questions”
She leaned closer and huffed slightly muttering something under her breath before shaking her head and biting her tongue, refusing to speak up or explain what she said instead just looking at him like pathetically.
noah held back a groan as sylvia pulled him away from the door. he didn't argue; instead, he just stood there, arms crossed over his chest like he was a scolded child. he was tempted to just zone her out, but he knew that wouldn't let him get out of here any faster, so he just hummed and nodded along. "i can say your name, i was just being respectful," he replied, though there was a bit of a bite laced in his words. "listen, man, i'm not going to stand here and try to have a conversation with you." he said, his eyes meeting sylvia's again, holding her gaze. "i said i didn't blame you, i'm not mad at you, but i'm not going to force myself to be a friend of yours, you have plenty of them already." "your shift is over, you should go home," he said, heading to the door yet again, this time actually escaping and leaving the doctor in there alone by herself.
Sylvia froze for a moment she didn’t know what to say or do, instead she stood there watching as the nurse walked away her vision blurring with tears that burned her eyes. Looking down a small sob escaped the woman’s throat before she shook her head, forcing herself to snap out of it before rushing out.
“You’re an asshole Noah.” She called out losing all her professionalism, instead of expressing her hurt Sylvia used anger to keep it hidden. Storming out the doctor headed towards the medical bay, her hands shaking as she made her way.
noah let out a breath that he hadn't even realized he'd been holding in the entire time as he stepped out of the room. he heard sylvia call out to him, deciding it was best for him not to respond.
he already saw some of his coworkers giving him crazy eyes, already coming up with their own versions of what may have happened in that breakroom, to which he just shrugged and busied himself with a conversation with shen, eyes only darting away as he saw sylvia make her way to the medical bay, her head in her hands like she was trying to hide herself.
He was simply talking to the charge nurse about hand offs and some patients when he saw her. Without a doubt in his mind, Jack proceeded to follow the woman... maybe he could help her? It was a long shot when you take in everything that happened.
"Sylvia?" He places a hand right below her shoulder on her back.
(// @drlennox )
Sylvia tensed at Abbotts touch she hated how much she wanted to lean into it, instead she snapped herself away from it and curled up against the wall. “Don’t talk to me, not unless you have an idea of why we’re locked in here.” She mumbled softly before resting against herself, her attention snapping to Noah as he got shoved in.
“Fuck is this my own person hell or what? I get locked in with to assholes and for what.” Despite the sharpness of Sylvia’s words they seemed almost hallow, like she didn’t believe in her own words. “I was supposed to be home by now, or over at the bar not trapped with someone who hates my guts and someone who cant take a hint.”
@princenoahhh
noah rolled his eyes as sylvia snapped, arms crossing over his chest, while jack seemed to back away from sylvia. "okay, well, i'm not an asshole, and i don't hate you," he said, finding the nearest chair and immediately going to slouch into it.
his eyes flickered to jack, his heart dropping to his stomach all of a sudden, and he quickly looked away somewhere else. his leg was now bouncing, and he started to pick at his lip as his anxiety suddenly skyrocketed. @jacky-abby
"You two need to work things out. 'thought you two were going to bond over my mistakes." He truly has no idea what's happening other than the only two people in the hospital who hates his guts is stuck in a room with him.
@drlennox
“I don’t need to work anything out. I already said everything I possibly could, Noah doesn’t want anything to do with it.” Sylvia mumbled out lying so hard that she barely believed herself, the doctor sighed and looked up at the roof. “Why the hell would we bond over that?”
She grumbled hardening her words like a shield, trying to do everything possible to protect herself from the truth. With a small sighed she looked back and forth between the two, then dropped her eyes.
“How long till you think till we’re rescued?”
@princenoahhh
noah was already glaring at jack from behind, his leg still bouncing off the ground like he had like eight energy drinks. he wanted to curse the guy out. how could someone be that stupid? but at least sylvia had answered half-decently; he'd give her that much.
he decided to stay silent for the time being, let the other two bicker for now while his thoughts circled in his head. he laughed when sylvia mentioned being "saved", as if they weren't obviously put in here. "there's no being 'saved', they put us in here to sort things out," he said, an obvious attitude laced in his words. "and i bet he had something to do with it," he added, pointing directly at jack.
@jacky-abby
He sucks in a chunk of air "I had nothing to do with it, thank you very much!" He approached the nearest surface, sitting down.
"I've already said im sorry. So its you two that need to sort it out."
@drlennox
She shook her head before holding it in her head tapping her foot anxiously with an exhausted look, Sylvia shot Jack a glare as if she couldn’t believe the words coming out of his month.
“Sorry doesn’t fix shit Jack, clearly Noah and you haven’t fixed anything so why should I?”
@princenoahhh
noah couldn't believe he found himself agreeing with sylvia, but he nodded along with her. his eyes flickered back to jack, his heart not falling to his ass this time.
"do any of us really need to fix anything? really?" he asked, tilting his head, his eyes going back and forth between the two. "is 'fixing' anything going to do anything at all?
@jacky-abby
"Maybe." He shrugs. Jack didn't really know what to say or do. Frankly he just wanted to be on good terms with them.
@drlennox

he decided to stay silent for the time being, let the other two bicker for now while his thoughts circled in his head. he laughed when sylvia mentioned being "saved", as if they weren't obviously put in here. "there's no being 'saved', they put us in here to sort things out," he said, an obvious attitude laced in his words. "and i bet he had something to do with it," he added, pointing directly at jack.
@jacky-abby
He sucks in a chunk of air "I had nothing to do with it, thank you very much!" He approached the nearest surface, sitting down.
"I've already said im sorry. So its you two that need to sort it out."
@drlennox
@drlennox
noah blinked, shifting awkwardly on his feet as he stared down at sylvia for a few seconds. he didn't expect to be face-to-face with her so soon, even if it had been a few days. it wasn't like he blamed her for anything; he wasn't mad, he was just upset at everything, at the whole situation, and she was one of the people he knew he could take it out on. the surprise quickly dropped from his face, and was replaced with a cold front, though his voice dropped to a soft murmur, almost a whisper.
@princenoahhh
noah rolled his eyes as sylvia snapped, arms crossing over his chest, while jack seemed to back away from sylvia.
'thought you two were going to bond over my mistakes." He truly has no idea what's happening other than the only two people in the hospital who hates his guts is stuck in a room with him.

noah hummed along with sylvia's awkward attempt at a joke, ignoring her eyes yet again. the smallest smile etched it's way on his face as he followed behind her into the patient's room, that way the patient would hopefully not pick up on the tension between the two. his eyes flickered back to the doctor as she went on about the case, humming along again, bouncing on the soles of his feet.
The second the doctor made it outside she curled up against the wall and started sobbing, she didn’t care who’d seen and heard her, she ignored the wide stares from earlier or the hushed whispers. Instead she blocked everything out for a moment and actually cried, the entire situation made her realize to many feelings at once. Feelings she didn’t even realize.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm down, shaky hands reaching into her purse and grabbing a pack of cigarettes. Slowly she lit one and took a deep inhale, the smoke spinning around her before disappearing.
“What a joke. At least fucking Abbott isn’t in yet”
@jacky-abby
The door peers open, Jack staring down at his clipboard, reading off some stupid fake chart from a patient earlier that day before his shift. The door shuts behind him with a light touch. He didn't realize what was happening until he heard the door lock behind him.
He looks behind him at the door he just entered, seeing a tired Dana in her afterwork clothes while she walks away.
He looks around "What did i miss?"
(//@drlennox @princenoahhh either can respond)

What do you mean?
i've seen you chasing after that doctor, why are you acting stupid with me? if you really didn't want to be together anymore, you could've just told me instead of me having to watch you flirt with her through my whole shift.
I want to be with you, Noah! But nothing's official. Why cant i flirt? Arent you?
i never flirted with anyone in front of you, or even behind your back, i thought we were going to be adults about this.

Why? You did nothing wrong. I was the fuckin idiot.
i'm sorry for preventing you from pursuing other people, and shit, or whatever, i don't know.
You didn't.
Hello!!! I'm one of Dennis's friends, Amy! I was just wondering if you wanted some eggs? My hens are used to feeding a grown man and a pregnant woman. Now that it's just me (gave birth around 9 months ago) and my baby, who refuses to eat eggs, we have way too many. I cannot eat eggs for every meal again, Dennis would kill me.
They won't take up any fridge space since you can just leave 'em on the counter! As long as you eat them within 2-3 weeks they wont spoil!!
No worries if not!!
