Frog: turns around and eats the bug.
Person: "OHHHHH-" sings high pitched and angelic like he witnessed a miracle.
honestly sometimes there's no better feeling than rereading a fic you've written and coming out of it going, "yeah that actually this DOES slap. exactly what i wanted to read. fucking nailed it."
When your home girl calls her boss a clod
Okay - I did it. Firstly, I don't know how to draw trees. When I sketched this one out, it started to twist like flames, so I was like, it IS an anomalous tree, who's to say it doesn't? Maybe it flares like that when Ford's spirit is near? Also, I bought the bros some clothes. I figure Stan might decide to make some changes, maybe feeling like his native slouchiness is somehow dishonoring Ford's memory. I gathered that it's the day the twins arrived so he would have gone to pick them up in a short sleeved buttonup, jorts and old man sandals. Baby steps for the bereaved :( As for Ford, I know it's generally accepted that ghosts show up wearing the fit they died in. However, I feel like his mode of dress was informed by his trauma (layers and heavy fabrics for weight and security), so I wanted to indicate that he has been freed from all that. I gave him back his Oxford shirt, replaced his sweater vest with suspenders, and put him in hiking boots. He's having the time of his afterlife :) I enjoy your work so much; I hope this small offering does it justice.
oh my god I love it so much I can't possibly describe it for lack of accurate words. I am feeling so much about this. just much. I feel like I'm going to explode (positive!!!)
what a lovely and beautiful piece for a scene I meant with such a somber and hopeful feeling that this art is providing in spades! I love the idea of the anomalous tree acting more like flame than a tree, it would explain why it glows and it just feels so perfect!!! that's Ford's tree!!!
I like the outfit you put Ford in!! I feel like Ford deserves to present himself to his family in something other than the clothes he died in now that you mention it, honestly. His clothes in the show really did symbolize his trauma in different ways and I feel like he would definitely wear something else now that he's free from his mortal burdens, screw the regular ghost rules haha. I also like the one you put Stan in, but I have no other words to talk about my reasons for that haha.
I also love how we can't see Stan's face, that his back is to us as he grieves and feels the guilt of losing Ford to suicide the way he did, how he felt he could've done so much more if he'd known how badly Ford was suffering... That Ford is touching one of Stan's shoulders in comfort as he tells him he wishes for him to forgive himself. I can imagine we're seeing through one of the twins' eyes, staying back to respect the moment between Stan and his ghostly twin.
ugh there's so much emotion in this piece too. The way Stan is hunched over in front of Ford's tree... the deep blue tone of the piece with shadows creeping in the edges implying the grief felt by Stan in this moment. The tree standing tall, giving light as it and Ford are seen as the only sources of hope in frame. The expression on Ford's face, with the little frown as he looks down upon his grieving brother.
honestly now that I think about it more, with let it be by the beatles playing in my head as I look at this, the more emotional I feel about this piece and the moment you've portrayed. My eyes are actually watering and my throat is becoming a little tight, not gonna lie. incredible how we can make each other feel things with art and writing, even if it's of the same work in different mediums. I applaud you for bringing emotion to me over my own creation with this wonderful piece of art, honestly.

I actually had another drawing in mind until I read the final chapter, but your description of that final meeting grabbed a hold of my brain and wouldn't let go.
