The process for another illustration for Smashing Magazine, this one is, obviously, about carousels. Horses are hard to draw, but carousel horses are always derpy as heck, so it works.

The reason cats aren’t able to laugh is because nature decided that giving them that ability would just creep the hell out of everyone; they’d only laugh at the most inappropriate times. YOU KNOW THEY WOULD.

Also, I’ve been avoiding inking my comics lately… I always think my pencils look way better. However, they are a bitch to import/clean up, especially if there’s shading.

Maybe it’d help if I actually scanned them instead of taking photos with my phone…

Ever since I drew my witchsona I can't stop thinking about the many ways Daphne would harass my poor (somewhat dim) robot cauldron.

I wanted to get in on the witchsona thing! So I drew something over lunch…

I figure, if I was a witch, I'd be pretty much the same… I'd still wear my comfy socks and holey leggings, and spend most of my time playing with tech. But I'd have magic technology (like a cauldron robot controlled by a magical crystal tablet of some kind) and… horns? Sure.

Daphne would be there with her own little horn. She'd probably try to sit in the cauldron robot all the time. That'd probably freak it out, to hilarious result.

I have been sick a lot, and I'm getting rather fed up. Clearly, the only solution is to go non-corporal.

While I’m sure you all know that I draw a lot, you may not be as aware that my day job is designing stuff of all shape and sizes.

Two weeks ago, my coworker Kyle and I participated in the Gastown Design Showdown and came up with a little concept for Chainlink, an introduction app. We worked our butts off for the six hours we were allotted and made four screens (2 each) of the mock app.

To help with our hectic workflow, we used Layervault to organize & share our files while we worked. And I guess Layervault liked what they saw, and decided to feature our work! How nice of them. Thanks guys!

Note: Chainlink will probably never get made, btw, if you’re wondering.

You get so many people who talk about what they are going to do. I think they get the same kind of emotional, almost chemical, satisfaction out of when they say, “I’m gonna write this thing, and it’s gonna be like this, and this is gonna happen, then that’s gonna happen.” They talk you through it, and they’re getting the same satisfaction from your reaction as if they actually did the thing. And that drives me up the wall. Then they never do it, because they’ve satisfied themselves by talking about doing it. I’ve known a bunch of people like that in life who start a thing, and they’ll talk all day long about the thing they’re gonna do, and how great it’s gonna be. But they’re not doing the thing. It’s hard to do stuff. That’s why everybody stops doing it. ’Cause it’s hard. So I always have a lot of respect for people who do things. Even if it’s the worst garbage on earth. I give Insane Clown Posse a lot of credit. Nobody wanted them to stay around. Nobody wants that. It’s terrible. And they’ve got every reason in the world to go away, and after a few years, they could’ve left and everybody would’ve said, “Of course they’re leaving.” That’s what you do. You do a dumb thing like that for a couple of years, and then you leave. I think they make some of the worst music I’ve ever heard, but if it means something to some fan, if that’s their favorite thing, it’s not for me to take that away from them. It’s like, I’m glad they found something that they enjoy. And they’ve built this horrifying thing up to where they have the Gathering Of The Juggalos every year, and it’s really successful, and all those people get together, and they’re real happy smashing fluorescent light bulbs over each other’s heads. [Laughs.] That’s apparently what they do there. But I’ll rank them above somebody who I know has impeccable taste and all they do is talk a good game. Insane Clown Posse gets more of my respect than that person, who’s just nothing but hot air and good taste. I might rather talk to the person with good taste than some fat Insane Clown Posse fan, but I actually give more respect to them for doing it if it makes people happy. Just keep those other people out of my neighborhood. Because I take property values very seriously.
