This plant on fol. 42r of LJS 419 is not the Oddish we need nor the one we deserve right now, and I for one am terrified. Those hollow eyes are the stuff of nightmares! This herbal seems to have a penchant for that.

“The King of Fashion,” Paul Poiret, was born on April 20th, 1879 in Paris, France. His innovative designs and business approach in the early 20th century effectively liberated women’s fashion from reliance on the corset and ushered in the modern fashion industry. Read more about him in this post on our blog from a couple years ago. These images are from Les Choses de Paul Poiret (1911), a follow up to Les Robes de Paul Poiret (1908).

Fashion magazine Gazette du Bon Ton has beaucoup Poiret, too.
