James bond, 007 and Gender

It was announced that a woman would be 007 across headlines. What people failed to do was read the actual articles. The articles are talking about Bond 25. Which Daniel Craig is shooting now. Daniel Craig is James Bond in this film. Daniel is handing over the role after 25. There has been no discussion if it’s the end of the line for the character James Bond itself, but there has been discussion that in 25 James bond will have to go into hiding. A new female agent is assigned his number. And she has to seek his approval to get it. Which she does. James Bond is still a character within the film. Is apart of the big mission. And has his purpose. I keep seeing arguments across the internet that say but James Bond has always been a male. You can’t just change him after 25 years. As a female I’ll buy that argument to an extent. If you were to change James Bond himself to a female. Then it would have to change a lot of his personality. He has always been written as stereotypical straight, slightly misogynistic man. Being a female would alter some of this yes. Even Ian Flemming wrote James Bond  in a slightly unlikable light in his books. And Ian said of his character he’s not a bad guy or a good guy, and isn’t necessarily meant to be liked. So on the surface I do not see these arguments as sexist. Within a certain context they could be seen as just wanting the character to stay the same as he always has been. Within a certain context it could be seen as why change him after 25 years. I get that. But here is where I call bullshit. Bond 25 has created a plot line that explains how 007 becomes a woman. That wouldn’t change James Bond. James bond will still be the man he always was.  With the same character traits and personality. And yet people still complain that 007 is not supposed to be a girl. That a female being reassigned to that number will make future movies flop. You can’t claim the only reason you don’t like it is because you don’t want James Bond to change after 25 years, and then say oh well a woman taking his number is just wrong.  Now you’re just being sexist. Also there has been no discussion on Bond 26. Which  means nowhere has it been said from here on out throughout the movies this new character will be the center of the Bond films. There still is a possibility for James Bond with a new actor to make an appearance.  He may or may not even get his number back. He’s resigned before in these films and returned countless times. No one knows where James will end up except that he’s not going to be magically a woman. So all you trans phobic or sexist people can stop worrying that they’ll retcon his gender or make him transgender. The internet needs to seriously lighten up!

Taylor Swift & The Music Industry

Yes I want to weigh in on this.  Because I know a lot of musician friends. I know of some stories when it comes to the record industry. And I know that it’s real easy to bash Taylor Swift.  I wasn’t there for all this Big Machine drama. But have read all the comments regarding her claims. And testimony from former artists of Scooter’s. And these former artists do not speak highly of him. One of them even said I can assure you he’s not a Taylor Swift fan. Current artists of Scooter Brauns are of course coming to his defense. Which is understandable. I don’t know how much bullying Scooter Braun did to Taylor. The issue I have isn’t precisely with Scooter Braun per say. As it is with Scott Borchetta. I’m sorry but an artist doesn’t leave your label for no reason. These are Taylor Swift’s claims: That Scott said she could buy her masters one album at a time if she resigned with Big Machine.  But Taylor Swift had a feeling he’d sale the company if she resigned with it. Her decision to leave was to save all her future work. Guess what he sold the company. Her fears were legit. Scott claims he gave her the chance to buy her masters back. But only after she dragged him in a media post.  Scooter’s wife claimed Taylor’s dad was in on the sell. And knew the sell was happening and therefore Taylor knew it was too. Of course the record label and the new owner are going to deny she didn’t know who the record company was sold to til now. Or even deny that she couldn’t buy her masters back. This is what record companies who screw over artists do.  Now I am not saying this just because I am a Taylor swift fan.  I am saying this because I heard a shit ton of bad stories about big record companies. And many artists having to deal with similar stories and the record company coming out calling the artist a liar. Until there’s solid proof Taylor’s trying to get “sympathy” and making it up. I am gonna believe her. The music industry can truly suck sometimes. Oh and I hope Taylor gets the masters to her first six albums back!!!

I see massive hate for Neil Gaiman on Tumblr. When I went searching for his blog to follow.  Accusing him of being Pro child porn and Homophobic.  Two things that are drastically false and are icky gross accusations. He’s been nothing but kind and nice on his social media. And has written quite a few LGBT characters into his works. I am bi. And I have never seen him defend homophobia or pedophiles.  I have blocked many people who spread such disgusting things. And yes I read all your “proof.” There’s nothing there. I will support Neil and his writing unless someone can come up with a legitimate reason I shouldn’t and  other links that show he’s such a horrible dreadful man. So far you people have not.

I remember the songs Blackhole sun and fell on black days vividly. I was barely a teenager. And I grew up on a lot of 90's rock. Some I loved. Some I was never a huge fan of. But regardless I always had an appreciation and admiration for what these artists brought.  Music is life. Music is art. Music is life changing and life saving at times. I can't remember being a fan of soundgarden. But I do know I appreciated them. And that many people loved them. And I knew that Chris Cornell was talented. And I never heard a bad thing about him.

Today I was shocked to hear of his death. Like many people. And I felt the sadness that was surrounding today.  And though I never met Chris. Every time I read a tribute to him I cried. It's okay to mourn someone  you never met fans. Even if people tell you not to. That it's weird. You don't know them.  If their music has impacted you. If they inspired you. If you were around for "that generation of music." go ahead. People did it for John Lennon. They did it for Elvis. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't.  I'm saying this because I am seeing a lot of people asking why do people mourn strangers.

You want to know why? Because a death should be mourned. Regardless if you knew them personally. A death is a death. You want to know why? to spread love. Love is very important in life. Especially when tragedy strikes.  "All you need is love."  Yes stealing from the Beatles.

Don't ask why. Just let people cry. Let people create tribute videos. Let them show Chris love. Seconds before I found out his death was ruled a suicide,  I donated to a suicide prevention Charity. I'm glad I support these causes. And I hope the next one we can stop.

Dear people who  have judged me or will continue to do so, I have something to say about my life. Yes I live with my mother and am not driving yet. Yes I am a community college drop out.  Yes I am unmarried and have no children.  This looks "bad" to everyone not living my life. And yes I've joked countless times with my mother that I don't want to be living with her for the rest of my life. And sometimes at thirty four I do find myself a "failure."  Because that's what is programmed into society.  If you don't have a college degree or aren't married with kids it looks bad.   Well my life may look like I'm going nowhere to y'all.  And I may not make a lot of money.  But I  work hard at what I want to do in life.  What most people don't know is I want to to be a writer. And that I have published independently a poetry book.

That I did well in creative writing class and everyone enjoyed my writing. That I've been writing since I was four.  And that I plan to finish a novel and publish another poetry book. That I've  won  quite a few writing contests. That I have a dream in my head.  Everyone looks at me and says do something. Even if it doesn't make you money right now.  Figure out what you want to do.  And make that dream happen like others. You do nothing. I've had people tell me this. Well I just busted your bubble.  I've been following my dream for years and not getting paid a dime for it because I enjoy it and am passionate about it.

All those who think I am settling for nothing and have nothing I am passionate about.  That I don't even have a "hobby" that all I do is live this same worthless life day and day out.  Oh you didn't go to college. Well you could've at least done this or that.   I hear it all the time. Ways to make my life better and find something to "do with it" without a college degree and making less than the person judging me.  I don't need your help in finding my passion and hoping it gets me somewhere someday.

I am there. I been there for a long long long time.  It's fine to sit there and judge that I live with my mother and stepfather. Or that I don't drive. Or I don't make as much as you because you finished college. Or that I gave up on community college of all things.  Fine judge that away.

But never tell me I'm not passionate about anything and I don't have dreams. Or goals. Or I do nothing creative or important.  You know eleven years ago I started an online 'zine all by myself. Went through many different "staff changes" and names of the website.  It changed from a general magazine to a music one.  And I did A LOT of damn work on it. Every day.  Struggling to get articles up on time. Because  people stopped sending in articles or lost interest in it. I went out and set up all the interviews I could.  And I sent out a lot of myspace messages in the old school myspace days.  One of my first interviews with someone who would become a big pop star (I'm not saying this to brag or boast about my accomplishments in a nasty egoistical way, but to bring my point home to all you rude people) was set up because i messaged them on their myspace. I said hey I'd love to interview you. I like your album that's just come out.  And she replied sure. Here's my publicists email to set it up officially. But I'm willing to do it.  Today I couldn't do that with many artists.  In fact today it probably would be a lot harder to get her for an interview.

But I got her all because i was sending out a million myspace messages a day when no one else was hoping someone would answer me.  I stayed up late putting up articles after article that I wrote because i only got maybe one person to send me something. It was a one woman show after a while. And that caused me to shut it down because I was overwhelmed. I was editor, writer and interviewer and many other roles.

I finally missed it and brought it back. And it's still so far just me doing it. But I got a rush of happiness writing those first two articles on the new site. You want to talk about not being passionate about something?  I'll tell you who wasn't passionate enough. All those people who came and went leaving me with all the work.  I wouldn't have put up with that for as long as I did if I wasn't passionate about this publication. And what I write about.

I stay up a lot. And some of  you wonder what I do? Why I am such a night owl. The best time for me to write is oddly at night. I stay up and I write.  Everything I can think of to write. My novel. Poetry. Random thoughts. Blog rants like this. And I get passionate about it. I get really into it. I write and rewrite if I don't think it's good enough.

There are two things I am obsessively passionate about.  Writing and music. I probably couldn't live without either of them. But you know none of you people who see me without a husband or kids or with a job you "approve of." know this about me.   You see someone with no dreams. Someone settling for doing the same thing over and over again. But I have dreams. I have goals. And though it's tough to get into the writing business it's not impossible.  Every book you love and admire or is on the school's writing list and is a "classic" has been rejected multiple times at one point.

You are the type of people who tell others find what you love and never give up on it.  Well Consider that done. I've been there since I was tiny.  So now you can stop shouting at me to find a passion. I was there before you started yelling in my ear.

I adore Frances Bean Cobain

I have to vent. Once more. I am so sick and tired of the shit Frances Cobain is getting for what she said in the latest interview in Rolling Stone. She said she wasn’t really into the genre of music her dad’s band was. And that he’s high on this pedestal because he died young.  And she discussed the documentary about his life and how it was more about who he really was as a person. She did not say anything bad about him. There was NO personal attack on him. I read the article. She did call him Kurt instead of dad for most of it. But think about it. Kurt Cobain died before she could talk. She doesn’t know him as dad. She grew up knowing Kurt the rock icon. She never got to know Kurt the dad. And it’s all very sad. To make it seem like she was bashing her father or being cold is unfair to her. She did say in the interview he left his family in the worst way possible but not in a negative context I don’t think. Not in that how could you leave me way, but even If she did she has that right. He took his own life before she could know him. She can feel however she wants to about that without people giving her a hard time. And yes I am one of those  people who do think it really was suicide and does not buy the theory Courtney had him killed. Regardless give Frances a break. ACTUALLY read the damn article. She said some wonderful things too.

It seems entirely impossible

To have a discussion on a book without people jumping down my throat. I hate Fifty Shades of Grey with a passion and if one more person assumes it's because I am sexually naive and I hate it because it's "too sexual" for me I am going to scream. Look assholes I am not a virgin. I may have only slept with one person my whole life and may not be as experienced as some but NEWS FLASH I am not unexperienced either. I am a grown woman who is perfectly fine with reading pornographic writings and or seeing pornographic images. Get the hell over yourselves. I am one of many whose read this thing and automatically think abuse. Emotional and sexual. Not every one will intrepret the relationship between Ana and Christian that way, but A LOT do. In fact a lot of people who are way more sexually experienced than me who are in the BDSM community DO believe it's abuse and a bad representation of such a sexual relationship. So before you jump down my throat because I said it seemed rape like listen to millions of people who have been in a sub/dom relationship who also worry about it's content. It is a large intpretation. I'm not saying you can't love it and not see the relationship that way but people who don't see it seem to think their opinion is the only one that matters. Hey assholes don't get mad at me if I want to point out a book's flaws in a civil debate. We can discuss it nicely and give each other what we see as our valid points without hostility and rage. Adults should be able to discuss things nicely. I also loathe when people say read the book stop jumping on the bandwagon of haters. I had the damn book on my computer and DID begin to read it. I could not finish it for what I saw as an abusive relationship. Not just the sex stuff but Christian was a controlling asshole. Telling Ana what she can or can not do in their relationship. He was actually stalkerish too. Like big time. He was creepy to me. Down right creepy. You telling me I can't feel disgusted reading this book and feel as if it's promoting abuse to women is no different than if I told a fan who didn't see the abuse I see they can't enjoy it. Which I have never done personally. I've nicely time and time again stated my opinion and people were completely rude to me. Well fuck off. I am sick of it.

I am going through my archives

and deleting some posts about TVD that expressed an opinion I no longer have/share. And maybe old site links. This blog will get back to some personal ramblings soon. And less obsessive reviews of shows I don't watch anymore. It's  unfortunate but I see my interest in TVD dying out. Most shows I lose interest in fairly "quickly". The exception to this is Supernatural. I love that show and hope it makes it past Season 11. I know some fans are like no more. it should end "beating a dead horse" kind of mentality, but most aren't. It amazes me how people can still love it. I am behind though. I am on season 4. I am a new fan so I need to catch up. anywho.

book writing at 4:17 a.m.

with a broken keyboard is a large task that I am ok with taking on. I usually listen to music while writing. I am so happy to be having this task at hand and I hope to finish this book soon. I am excited for people to read it! That is if it ever gets published. So I guess I better put on my Swift, TPR, and various classic rock songs and jam out while writing.  Is it strange for your own writing to make you cry?  Is it mildly conceited to be this proud? if so I am ok with that!

ooh another Taylor I am a fan of is Momsen. I love her band The Pretty Reckless and oddly when I hear parts of light me up (removing the drug references like plenty of white to go around....etc.) and pieces of Shake it off by Swift I think  what a great mash up/cover that'd make. But I can't sing unfortunately. So who wants to make this happen for me? A nice wonderful musician. I'll send you the parts I envision being mashed up in both songs and see what you do with it?! anyone. Or Or I could just record it myself and let Momsen and Swift see how I completely butcher their beautiful songs they worked so hard on writing. er....nah the second option sounds embarrassing. I think I am the first swiftie to have wanted a TPR and Taylor mash up before and I am sure to be the last.

So people get on Taylor Swift's case about writing songs about exes. Oh my they better not see my old journals or half the writings on my computer. I have a shit ton of poems about bad first dates not just ex boyfriends. If every woman is judged by the topics they write about than every female writer is either an obsessive ex, or  just psychotic period. oops.
