When she didn’t see anyone at all, she got really confused. “Jade, there’s nobody here.” She moved closer to where Jade is.
“But what was making the noise then?” Jade asked concerned. “If this place has ghosts then I am out.”

Thea tries to squint through the dim lit place, “Don’t leave me, until we’re sure some intruder’s here. One of us gotta live to inform the others.” She looks around, she then starts roaming around the area with her hands clenched into a fist.
“Fine.” Jade crossed her arms. “But hurry up please. I’m getting serious creeps right now.”
“If you’re trying not to get killed, you should’ve said you had a weapon. Someone’s less likely to shoot at you if they think you’re gonna shoot back. What’re you doin’ walkin’ around without any sort of defence?”
“Well I don’t like weapons. And maybe I’m hoping that people are nice and won’t instantly kill an unarmed girl.”
Thea starts walking to where she thought that sound come from. “If I get strangled, run for your life.” She says as she looks over at Jade.
Jade watched her nervously. “Don’t give me permission.” She tried to give a reassuring look to Thea. “I’m about three seconds away from sprinting out of here already.”
Aspen relaxes and walks towards her, shaking his head. “That was like, the dumbest thing you could’ve said in that situation, you know?”
Jade sighed when she saw it was only Aspen. “If it means I don’t get killed, I am fine with being stupid.” She slowly put her hands back down.Â
“Well, I’m checking out these extra rooms here.” He wipes some dust off his clothes. “I haven’t actually looked at them since becoming the leader, so they’ve gotten dusty.”
“That makes sense.” She replied, satisfied with his answer. “But the dust adds to the mood of it. Even if it makes it harder to breath.”
Oona laughs a bit too. “I’m obviously frozen with fear.”
“Guess I’ll add to my list of skills then.” She started walking again. “I think we should go to a place less like a horror movie though.”
Thea comes out from the opposite side of where the coughing noise came from. “I’ve been here. And I swear I wasn’t the one who’s coughing.”
“Okay...” Jade was really starting to worry now. “How about you go check it out and I stay here?” She shrugged at Thea.Â
Oona smiles and pushes Jade’s shoulder playfully. “Well, then, I’ll just have to get out of your hair. I don’t want to feel your wrath.” She grins.
“Ah yes, because we all know how bad my wrath can be.” Jade let out a small laugh. “I’m shocked you haven’t run from me yet.”
“No, I’ll be good in a second.” He breaks into a coughing fit for a moment and then makes his way over to Jade. “There’s a plant–” His voice comes out strange and hard to understand so he nods. “Water.”
“C’mon.” Jade said. Grabbing his arm, she lead him back to the main part of the base. “Once you can speak without coughing, I’m expecting an explanation. And I’m hoping it is a good one.”
“Oh. Well, I wasn’t expecting anyone around here either.” He goes back around the corner, then sticks his head back again. “Actually, what are you doing here?”
Jade watched him, her confusion only growing. “I wanted some peace and quiet, away from everyone else. What about you, huh?”Â
Oona laughs a little. “Maybe you’re just an easy scare,” she says with a wink. “It’s good for alone time. Because no one else comes here. But I was getting ready to leave so I’ll forgive you,” she jokes.
Jade rolled her eyes. She had heard plenty of times that she needs to toughen up. “Maybe I won’t forgive you. I mean it is not often around here that I get alone time.” She smiled to let Oona know she was not being completely serious.
  For a while, Shiloh thought she was alone so when someone’s voice echoed through the corners of the room, she jumped, a squeak dragged through her lips. She grabbed a metal tube nearby, ready to whack it in case it was an intruder. She tiptoed through the hall, her body not leaving the walls. A sigh came out heavily seeing who it was. “Holy sh…it’s just you.”
“Yes it is just me.” Jade replied when she saw it was Shiloh. It was hard to relax though when she was what Shiloh was holding. “Please do not tell me you were going to use that on me.” Jade gestured exaggeratedly at the metal tube.Â
Aspen jumps when he hears a voice, looking back down the dark corridor. He doesn’t recognise the voice and can’t see far enough to figure out who exactly was speaking. “I’m armed. Who are you?” He calls, hand going to rest on the sheath of his knife.
“It’s Jade.” She calls back, only a slight trace of panic in her voice. “Also I am totally unarmed, in case you wanted to know.” It was probably no help in the dark but still she put her hands up. Some of the people around here were too ready for a fight.
When Oona hears Jade’s voice, she pops out from around a corner and reveals herself. “Hi, sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” She coughs again. “What are you doing here?”
At the appearance of Oona, she jumps again. “For not trying you sure are good at scaring.” Jade gives a small smile to the other girl. “I could ask you the same thing. I thought no one else came around here.”
“It’s just me. Uh–Abel,” he calls back in a strained voice before letting out another coughing fit. He comes out of a doorway down the hall a ways and flicks on a flashlight pointed at the ground. “Don’t go in there.” He finds it hard to speak and coughs again, but otherwise he looks unharmed.
Jade moved to where Abel’s voice was coming from, using her own flashlight so not to bump into anything. “Hey.” she said. “I would ask what you were even doing in there but first I think you might need some water.”Â
He pokes his head around a corner and looks confused at seeing Jade. “Yeah? Hi?” His eyes wander around, looking for anyone else that might be there. “What’s up?”
Jade takes a step back, relief that it is only Ace. “You know, just thinking you were a murderer or something. Since I wasn’t expecting anyone to be around here.” Jade replied. She can’t say that she had been expecting his reaction.Â
