OPEN AIR THEATRE RE-OPENS WITH JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR: IN CONCERT
We are excited to announce that Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is the first London theatre to welcome back audiences with 70 live performances in August and September.
The show must go on. But what if it can't?
The performer
"I’ve heard no mention of the importance of our industry, how the government feel about it, no signal of any support," says Olivier Award-winning actor and singer David Thaxton. "It feels like the arts are being forgotten, as if the weight, not just artistically but economically, that our industry brings to the UK just doesn’t matter."
When pressed on how government schemes such as the SEISS have been initialised to alleviate the poverty caused by unemployment, he acknowledges that many performers have been helped. But he's looking for signs that a bailout might be on the horizon for such a massive cultural sector that gives pleasure to so many.
This is an existential crisis for theatre
David Thaxton
"The simple fact, I fear, is that this is an existential crisis for theatre. Without a significant bailout, handled properly, I shudder to think how many shows will close, how many theatres will sit dark for months on end, how many theatre companies will no longer exist. It is terrifying."
Only The Brave - A New Musical
Only the Brave, recounts the raw courage and determination of those who fought and felt the physical and emotional pain of the Second World War.
It tells the story of a group of brave soldiers embarking on a dangerous mission that holds the key to the success of the D-Day Landings. This rousing and original musical interweaves the soldier’s stories with that of their families and loved ones.
Based on true events, Only The Brave evokes the camaraderie and bravery of the second world war generation.
This archive version was filmed in 2016 by AdVision TV Ltd at Wales Millennium Centre , co-produced with Soho Theatre, Daniel Sparrow Productions and Birdsong Productions with a cast of Welsh musical stars led by Caroline Sheen and David Thaxton. I drove for ten hours to see Earl Carpenter as Javert in the Les Mis Concert on Saturday 14th September because I have no impulse control. I’m sharing the audio because everyone deserves to hear his performance.

Oh and please don’t try to trade this audio. I’ve chosen to gift it and I will get annoyed if I see it listed anywhere for trade.
Enjoy!!
