Quick drybrush up for this war walker
Ayy he’s got a buddy with a cape made of skins and emo bangs.
Scheme is coming along! Pretty happy with this - i remembered why i do bland neutral bases, any color detracts from the mini so i abandoned the toxic green base and just went for neutral rubble.
In shadows deep, where darkness weaves,
Nuln Oil, god of aesthetics, heaves.
Obsidian whispers, a divine decree,
To cloak the mundane in mystery.
Brush of night, thy strokes divine,
Bring forth beauty, in shadows entwine.
On canvases of chaos, thy art is writ,
Transforming the plain with a masterful fit.
Ebon rivers in a nocturnal gown.
Veil the flaws, let perfection rise,
Nuln Oil's blessing, an artist's prize.
Oh, god of allure, thy pigment's might,
Turns the ordinary to a spectral sight.
In every stroke, in every hue,
Nuln Oil, thy worshipers renew.
Dark divinity, with an artist's eye,
Bless us with shadows that beautify.
On the palette of life, thy fingers dance,
Nuln Oil, god of elegance.
Got some dark eldar or drukhari if you like, i’ve got a few troops and an archon, but I haven’t established a scheme so we’re going witchy purple with a toxic green base. We’ll go yellow and white for the rest of the palette.
The army painter alien purple was awful - but its 5 years old so i think it had separated a bit. I’ll have to get one or two other coats on there before i nuln oil wash.
All dry brushed and shiny shiny! And i have my example piece to work from for the stormcast. I’ll bring up celestine to remind me how to style the seraphim, and the sisters of silence are open for whatever i feel like.
MAN. I love this stage, it just shows what a good drybrush can do! Here on the right i brushed up with the lighter golds and even a few spots of silver, left you can see a pre-drybrush, wash only fig. I’m going to establish the rest of the scheme with the fig on the right since i havent made any color decisions other than gold so far, then once she’s complete she’ll be a guide for the other two. I’m thinking creams and whites on the shield and some armor parts and I need a pop of color, purple seems regal so maybe that for leather etc? Then i’ll pick out the greenery on the base.
I always have trouble with gold but after a drybrush these will be looking good! Started with two thin coats (tm) of gehenna’s gold all over. For the stormcast i tried a layer of auric, and the others i used greedy, followed by a wash of reikland. Theyre all gonna turn out pretty similar so next i’ll drybrush greedy, then pick highlights with auric and some silver, that should lighten everything back up.
Its too cold to prime with a rattlecan so I brought up previously primed sisters of silence, celestines seraphim, some sigmar dudes and worked on their darkest first gold coat before i lighten it up. Then have some scouts and dark eldar. I added some finer sand to their bases too so i’ll have to brush prime back over those, but i usually do bases black and work up from there anyway.
Alright! I think thats my backlog assembled, so i gotta get priming and painting!
Rockgut troggoths assembled, these guys were a lot of work but its a satisfying end result :)
Squighoppers next!
Continuing my streak of two days back with these gnarsty doodz and some dark eldar wracks
Hey all, took a small break of 5 years 8 months 25 days to have children, but today - today I decided to do warhammer.
Great to know I loathe working with finecast as much as before. Reattached the brightlance to the war walker that my child snapped off and didnt tell me, assembled a blood angels jump chaplain, jain zar and an old school maugan ra. The new model didnt even exist when I got him.
Probably nothing else has changed in 5 years tho right?
Chosen Axes!
More cheeky Shadespire action, my wife is running with the chosen axes so i’m painting fiery aztec dwarves!! Happy with the scheme and the turquoise
Sepulchral Guard, complete. Happy with the snow effect, and these guys are looking very game of thrones, north of the wall undead! Ready to kick some butt in shadespire.
Sepulchral Guard progress, getting ready for my first shadespire game on Friday. Gonna use baking soda snow on the base after hardcoat but adding white paint to the mix as I heard it can yellow otherwise.
