Is coloring done digitally for the warrior cats graphic novels?
Yes, I ink the pages by hand, scan in the black and white artwork, and then color digitally.
Do you have any favorite panels, either because you’re particularly proud of them or even just because they look silly?
Yes, there are some panels I am fond of because I remember what I was thinking about or trying to achieve when I drew them. And yes, others do look silly (especially when you zoom in) and those are fun too!
I followed your manga tutorials on the old warriors homepage and I definitely have you to credit for getting me into drawing cats! Thank you for being a childhood inspiration of mine!

I have to say: I LOVE the way you draw cats!! They’re so cute, but at the same time ferocious, which works SO WELL for warriors cats. Besides your fav to draw, who is your fav warriors cat overall? (Mines BrightHeart I’m excited for the new graphic novel!!)

Thank you! I love drawing Graystripe because he was the first I had the pleasure of designing. I also loved drawing Mudclaw because he was based on my own kitty pet.
What's your favorite warriors graphic novel that you've done so far?
That's a hard question because I try to totally immerse myself in the story/characters while I'm working on it, so each one is a "favorite" for different reasons. However, "Ravenpaw's Path" is very special to me because I started feeling confident in my technique while working on it. "Shadow in Riverclan" was also a favorite because I knew it was going straight to color and was able to consider that as a feature from the very beginning.

How much direction do you get on the designs of the cats when working? Are you largely allowed to use your own ideas?
I just get the descriptions from the book. From there I will create designs that I share with my editor. They usually like my first pass but there have been a few times I had to try another idea.
Do you have a colored drawing of Monkeystar from the Manga at the end of Graystripes Vow? Or was that all just black and white?
Just black and white. But feel free to color!
