Frank's 'I MISS YOU TERRIBLY' tattoo and what it's got to do with Gerard
Yeah, i know, the song is amazing i love it too :) and yes they can be friends and all but if it was about the band Frank could’ve totally get ‘From First To Last’ tattooed or their logo or whatever we know it would not be the first time he made that kinda tribute to a band….
So yeah, so it’s safe to say he did not get that tattoed because of the band, it’s about that particular song. And NOTE TO SELF is an absolutely frerard-ish song. Now, keep in mind that the 'I MISS YOU TERRIBLY’ tattoo F got AFTER Projekt Revolution (since during it he did not have it according to pics!!) and we all know what all shits happened during Projekt Rev. Also, let’s not forget the fact he only got 'I MISS YOU TERRIBLY’ tattooed so it’s clear enough the tattoo was to refer to the meaning of the song or simply what is sung about rather than the song itself, coz of course Frank can like a song but this one is about its content, the words, not the song as a whole……
(when looking at the pic, note that the tattoo’s position is a perfect one - it’s on a place people do not get to see too often… during PR he wore a lot of sleeveless t-shirts but ever since then he mostly stopped, we do not see him wearing them too often…. so as far as he’s got a short sleeved tshirt on we won’t get to see the tattoo… Reminds me of the sorrows (birds) GF tattoo on his belly which we don’t get to see all that often either… both tattoos (which in my opinion both are referring to Frank and Gerard or are connected with their rship) have sort of more or less “secret position”, you know what i mean.)
So … now let’s take a closer look at the actual lyrics of NOTE TO SELF which are really intriguing…

I can see why Frank could relate to this so perfectly…. Projekt Revolution, Frank and Gerard’s rise and fall, fight between the two, and finally G’s marriage which was the very last straw and from then on for a long time F and G parted ways…the band finished touring and on the last concert or so G said that it might have been their very last performance, something to that effect…so they were seriously thinking of parting ways perhaps even for good… things between them were seriously not very good… also the last line of this paragraph is interesting… it’s like thinking of where F was back then though where he’d rather be… which would be by G’s side…
“I wanted to be that breath of fresh air,
When everything smelled so insincere. But this taste still lingers in my mouth, Deceit has ways of sticking around. And I’m ready to disappear, Vacation seems far, seems far from here.”
So yeah….might be relating to Frank feeling deceived by Gerard…there are the first lines referring to what F was willing to give G, he wanted to be there for him, he was…and then G deceived him… 'ready to disappear’ that’s resignation, reminds me of Frank’s leathermouth lyrics 'this face means nothing, these hands hold nothing these lungs are empty…’ it’s like disappearing, not being, not living anymore…hurt and resignation and giving up. 'vacation seems so far’ vacation representing peace and relaxing… F would not find his peace for a long time…or so he felt back then…
“Note to self: I miss you terribly.

So yes. Frank was missing Gerard terribly (well, he even got it tattooed, so see?) Inwardly he was pleading G to come back to him… which extremely reminds me of Gerard’s very own song, lyrics of Stay 'Stay with me stay right here stay with me staaay…would you stay right here if i tell you someone out there loves you after all’. ….extremely similar vibe…right? :(
“I can feel my mind, wandering again.
Into where I don’t know, and will I ever get home? Time starts moving, faster than I can. And I’m sick of this scene, I need a break from routine.”
This could describe Frank’s feelings of a huge confusion he felt over the whole thing, he was sick of it all…the 'will i ever get home’ representing everything going back to where they used to be…when everything had still been good between them…
“Which part of me is lost? I feel so close, and yet I am so…far!…”
Yeah…feeling lost…feeling confused…feeling still so damn close to G yet so far, they were close physically too for some time since they had to finish the tour but they had already been so far away from one another…
For me this is clearer than the crystal…. Frank was missing Gerard terribly…just like Gerard was missing Frank (Stay, The World is Ugly)…. Only, Gerard realized everything when it had already been a bit too late….
