Exactly. It’s not like you’ll melt.
I might. I just might.
Leather Jacket | Jamie&Adley
“Whatever.” Adley smirked, “That can’t be true, because you were a weird teenager, and I assume you’re probably still a weird adult.” She said with a smile, “I was just very unique, all of the time. Some people didn’t like it and thought that I was weird, so be it.” Adley said shrugging her shoulders. She had never cared what people thought about her, because she knew she wasn’t going to change for anyone, and she wasn’t going to be the type of person who judged some else either.
“I guess you just proved what I assumed, you are a weird adult. Aliens aren’t awesome. It’d be awesome if you know… aliens were totally proven and super accepting of us. How do we know aliens aren’t going to be like ‘War of the Worlds’ aliens and come down and eat us all?” She asked, raising her eyebrows, screwing with Jamie just because it was funny, “What does goo even smell like? And hey, I think Mexican food smells great. I’d love to smell like that.” She grinned, “I think you’re a total lightweight and you’re drunk, and that’s why you’re spewing all of this weird nonsense, sir. You’re going to have to stay here tonight.”
“I was not a weird teenager, I was just different.” He mocked offense at her and leaned backward, giving her a fake dirty look. “And I do recall that you were weird as a teenager, too. Remember your obsession with not wearing shoes?” He raised an eyebrow at her, smirking. Adley had went through a phase their junior year of not ever wanting to wear shoes. She’d wear them long enough to get to school and the second she was in the building, they were off of her feet and in her backpack. He never understood why she didn’t want to wear them and the only thing she said about the matter was that ‘hippies didn’t wear shoes’.
Jamie was about to speak up, but she had stumped him. He didn’t really know what aliens were like, or what goo smelled like and he could only laugh and shrug his shoulders. “Mexican food smells like burnt hot sauce and if you smelled like that, I’d have to hose you down before I kissed you.” He shook his head at her and then looked at her suggestively, wiggling his eyebrows. “Oh yeah?”
Hungry, Hungry Hippos | Jamie&Adley
For once, Adley had spent time getting ready to go out somewhere. She remembered when she had seen Jamie before she had left for her trip to Maui, and he reminded her that she was always sweaty after dance classes. And he was right, she was usually an extra mess after her dance classes. And it wasn’t completely attractive, nor appropriate for a date - even if Jamie had told her that they were getting pizza. She had to look semi presentable.
Once she had showered, she spent time making sure that her hair was in some nice loose curls, that she put on a tiny bit of makeup, and that she actually put on a dress. It was going to be a nice little surprise that she actually spent time to look good. Adley was just slipping on her shoes when she heard the the knocks on her front door.
Adley grinned, grabbing the little white bag that she had and rushed over to the door, swinging it open. “What up, nerd?” She said, immediately ruining her totally put together facade.
When Jamie told Adley he was taking her for pizza, he expected to see her in a pair of cut offs and a tank top and her hair in a messy bun but when she opened the door, he was floored. She looked the complete opposite of what he had been expecting and he immediately felt under dressed. She was in a dress, her hair was done and she was even wearing makeup. His eyes lit up happily and his smile was so wide it hurt.
“Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?” Jamie joked, looking her up and down. “You look amazing, wow.” He had a wipe a hand down his face to relieve some of the pain in his cheeks. “Not that you don’t always look amazing, but just, wow. A dress? Makeup? I feel like we should go somewhere else now.”
Taking a step towards her, Jamie placed a hand on her hip to pull her closer and kissed her gingerly. She smelled like vanilla and cherries and he inhaled her aroma slowly, savoring it. He loved it when she was sweaty and dirty and in sweats, but he also loved when she smelled sweet and clean. Holding his hand out for her, he smiled. “Shall we?”
Hungry, Hungry Hippos | Jamie&Adley
After returning the ambulance to the station, Jamie made his way home to shower and change into appropriate clothes for dinner. Once he was ready, he was back in his car and on his way to pick Adley up. It was a short drive from his apartment to hers and he couldn’t help the smile he had plastered on his face all day.
It had been a long, long time since the two of them had been on a date and it was long overdue. Jamie was ecstatic that Adley had decided to date him again and he knew that things would be different this time around. They were adults, they had jobs and adult friends and adult things to do but he knew that they would be okay. She wanted them to separate in the first place to find out who they were and to start their lives individually before being together again and now that they had, it was time for them to come together.
Parking in the driveway, Jamie practically skipped to her front door, knocking a few times and flattening out his shirt against his chest. He waited patiently for his girlfriend to answer the door, excitement written on his face.
“Sorry means nothing Jamie. You know what the worst part is I still care about you and I don’t want to anymore because it makes me sad.”
I care about you too and I don’t want you to be sad, but I really am sorry.
Leather Jacket | Jamie&Adley
“For gods sake.” Adley said rolling her eyes, “That’s so mean.” She said with a chuckle, “She took pictures because she liked to take pictures, not because I was a total loser who needed her whole life documented.” She replied, “Anyway, the pictures of me are way worse than any pictures of you. She doesn’t have pictures of you when you were four and you decided that temporary tattoos were really cool and you wanted to be covered from head to toe in them.”
With a chuckle, she shook her head, “A mermaid?” She questioned, raising her eyebrows, “If I was an alien wouldn’t I smell like the air and space, and probably spaceship metal.” Adley added, “I don’t think aliens like the beach and sunscreen, unless that’s just ironically what they naturally smell like…. Why are we even talking about aliens?”
“That’s very true.” Jamie chuckled. “Because I wasn’t a weird child.” He could only imagine the photos she was talking about. He hadn’t seen many photos from when Adley was a little kid, but he was more than curious now.
“Why aren’t we talking about aliens? Aliens are freaking awesome.” His eyes lit up slightly at the topic and he let out a soft laugh. “Only the government knows what aliens smell like. But I bet they smell weird. Like goo and Mexican food.”
It was an accident. I didn’t think the cap would pop off like that. Sorry, man.
It’s just water so I can’t be too upset.
Shit, sorry. You’re, uh– not who I thought you were, wrong person.. uh, can we pretend that never happened?
I guess. Since I’m a nice guy.
“Bullshit.”
Kate, I’m sorry.
A ghost of course.
Sure it was.
I thought you were gonna duck.
Why would you throw water at me in the first place?
