Be so fucking proud of yourself for passing the hardest moments alone while everyone believed you were fine.

My piece for the @caitvizine classically inspired Caitvi based on A Classical Courtship by Auguste Toulmouche :]
Sweet....
I don’t know who needs to hear this but grief is so much more than just something you experience when someone dies. it’s okay to grief opportunities and time lost. people you used to know. people you used to be. relationships. ways of living. places. your childhood. you can feel grief over so many things and it’s okay and real and seeking help is okay too, you’re not being disrespectful.

🌸 Self love and the aftermath 🌸
Part 1 - Whole.
I was already whole when I met my boyfriend, I had been single for about a year. I had used that time to reflect and have fun while being alone.
Half of 2018 and 2019 were years were I had to learn how to give the same amount of effort and love that I was giving other people, to myself. And I’m proud to say that I succeeded.
But what they don’t tell you is, What happens when you’ve achieved all that and you fall in love?
I had my life figured out, well sort of. But I knew that I had reached a level in life where I wasn’t going to take no one else’s bullsh*t when it came to love and relationships.
And it was freeing
I was feeling at peace with my behaviour and with my decisions, there were no second thoughts.
I’m not gonna lie, there were moments of weakness, of sadness, but I was aware that those moments were necessary, because without pain or sadness I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate and enjoy the happier days as much.
I was on a roll. Until I stumbled face first into a relationship with a man who seemed to be everything I have ever asked for and yet, quite ironically, I refused to take it... I refused to believe it.
Was I broken? I thought so too. But looking back I would disagree now. I wasn’t broken..., I was so embedded into my own belief of what self love was that I refused to let someone else show me their definition of loving me.
That journey towards that goal was hard and excruciatingly frustrating. And as much as it sounds so easy to do, the hardest part was letting go.
“Life has knocked me down a few times. It showed me things I never wanted to see. I experienced sadness and failures. But one thing for sure, I always get up.”
