Hello everyone!

JaneAustenComics is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice in comic strips…with a twist. Ok, with a lot of twists. The main one being that a modern Jane Austen — who’s somehow been chilling in the 21st century — appears in the plot, comments on events, analyses the characters, and mostly brings chaos.

The strips are funny, romantic, and meta… Well, we try. Some info about us: - The WONDERFUL artist is named Clara d’Allancé. She’s French (we both are). You can find her Insta here:

Darcy: I have done a lot of self reflection over the past few months, and I recognize that your prejudice was not completely unsound. I 100% respect your boundaries and the fact that you rejected me.

…However. You told my aunt to go fuck herself when she offered you a lot of money to not marry me.

I just wanted to make sure.

Exactly. Pride and Prejudice is the ancestor of ALL romantic comedies. You'd think a seasoned Hollywood writer had written this plot!

Second post in my "Toxic families" series!

If I had to vote, I'd say General Tilney and the Tilney family have the highest and most realistic degree of toxicity in Austen.

I feel like I have met the Tilneys. That they could be the (unhappy) family next door. I feel that there are millions of General Tilneys in the world. (Sorry about the arrows, this was initially meant for Instagram.)

I finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time (and it was a super cool annotated version!) last night, so its so awesome that I would find you comic page this morning!

Je le mets ici parce que j'écris en français et c'est pas très poli pour les lecteurs anglophones - le strip 19 me rappelle un épisode du super podcast C'est plus compliqué que ça, par l'historien Jean-Christophe Piot.

En duo avec la podcasteuse et autrice féministe Victoire Tuaillon, ils ont fait "Non, le marché de la rencontre n'a pas commencé avec Tinder" et ça parle justement du manque de mâles valides après la Première Guerre Mondiale. On apprend plein de choses et c'est très drôle aussi.

C'est un sujet carrément fascinant. J'ai lu un bouquin sur le post-WW1 en Angleterre sur le manque d'hommes et comment les femmes se débrouillaient quand même, et c'était passionnant… Évidemment, idem en France, certainement.

Translation ! Strip 19 reminds amuchasidliketo of a French podcast called "C'est plus compliqué que ça", by Jean-Christophe Piot, a historian. In this podcast, Jean-Christophe Piot and the feminist writer Victoire Tuaillon made an episode called "No, it didn't start with Tinder," talking about the "dating" market, and focusing on the lack of men after WW1. My reply was about a book I read years ago, and no, I don't remember the title, but I will edit this post as soon as I get it. It was about the terrifying lack of men in England after WW1, and how women found solutions anyway... to work, have children, careers, relationships, etc.

hello i just wanted to say i love your comics so so so much <33 they perfectly capture the books and you’ve adapted them so beautifully to modern times (mr bennet listening to podcasts to ignore his wife’s ranting killed me), it brings me so much joy every time you upload!!!
