god, she reminds helena of herself when she was young. if not because of the age, because of the way she didn’t seem scared of anything. the moment she watched her family slaughtered in front of her was the last moment the huntress had felt fear. looking at jane, she wondered if she’d had that moment yet. ‘no one was supposed to see me,’ it’s a fact, her tone flat and low. she wouldn’t hurt the girl, but she needed a promise. ‘you won’t tell anyone, right?’

Doe eyes only blinked at the other’s flat tone, eyebrows raising only slightly as her head tilted to the side. If the other was worried about Jane seeing and saying something.. well, let’s just say Jane was in no position to be blabbing to anyone herself. There’s a reason she’s out here, all alone, with nary an adult in sight. “..Promise.” Left her in a light tone before she looked down to the body for a second, then back up to Helena. “Was he.. Bad man?” She pointed to it as she questioned her, just out of curiosity.

Also one more thing before I go and write starters; holy fucking shit!!! my muses defending anyone else’s muses!!!! and vice versa!!!! is my jam apparently!!!!! Like I’m noticing a pattern in my novellas, literally give me a plot about jane/lily/moira/kratos/etc defending/being-defended-by someone they love and are close to and it’s just instant novella/four-five paragraphs, that’s just facts bro. I Thrive off this kind of Angst. It is my lifeblood.

Jane’s traveled far and wide to get to him, to bring him back home, safe and sound. She’d traveled a lot for Kali, and he’d done the same for her once upon a time, she knew he’d do the same again and again and so would she for him. This is her true father we’re talking about, her only family, the person who adopted her for Christ’s sake. You don’t take him away and expect her to not come running after him as soon as she knew where he was. Her search started the moment she was able to get back into the void and was able to see him. She found him there, at this Russian work site, being held captive and forced to do all kinds of free labor. 

The sight of him broke her heart once again, and lit a massive fire within her at the same time.

That broken heart and rage fueled her need to search for him, and lead her all the way to the outskirts of this work site. She’d considered going in stealthily, to try to sneak her way in and sneak him out herself, but there were too many guards, and..

Quite frankly, the sight of him being forced to do all these things brought back a lot of memories of the lab. That only served to enrage her more.

So, here she was, stood infront of the crowd of people, guards and captives alike. Underneath the large hood covering her head, her nose trickled blood as the guns she made levitate in the air flew to the right, far from the grasp of any of the guards. They couldn’t hurt her now as she then kept walking towards the group, gritted teeth showing underneath the hood of her jacket. She tried to lift her head a little, to make out the faces in the crowd to find him, until one of them slammed a hammer into the head of a guard and bolted straight towards her. 

For all of a second, instinct forced her to raise a hand towards the other in defense, until she heard that voice..

That voice.. HIS VOICE!

“POP!”

It’s a cry that rips out from her throat, a cry of joy, surprise, relief, a mix of the three. She tears the hood off of her head to see him, and.. though he looks different, not like the bear of a man she once knew, it’s him. She knows it’s him. The hand lowered for all of a split second, her eyes tearing up with pure joy before she spotted one of the guards running after him, screaming in Russian. She then brought the hand back up and growled ( yes, growled ) as her head tilted, brows furrowed, she shoved her hand forward and acted as though she was pushing the guard back.

The offender flew back, crashing into the porch of one of the makeshift cabins surrounding them. He’d gone limp upon the crash, but still her head twitched as she focused on his forehead. Anyone who would get near Hopper would get the same treatment this man was about to receive. Her teeth gritted, bared as she squinted her eyes with focus, and soon enough, just like the last guard she killed, his head was nothing but shriveled remains riddled among the snow. Perhaps she’s being a little too wild, but she’d gone so long thinking her father was dead, that grief fueled her rage and made her lose sight of herself for a few moments.

Well.. more than just a few moments.

The rest of the guards broke into a fight, going after both her and Hopper then, and she only yelled as she put up both hands, focusing on stopping them in their tracks one by one. A feral look fills her eyes then, rage coming to the surface as she eyed each guard within her view.. only, she didn’t see the one guard coming up to her side, combat knife raised and poised to attack her any moment..
