“Oh, but it’s free!” There are ads. They are making money off of this. They are stealing from the creators you love and you are hurting those same creators if you use this app or any similar app.
App acts like a browser but paywalls offline reading while reviews state it’s full of intrusive ads and lacks basic functionality such as commenting. Do not use this app. Use the ao3 website. The app uses Gen-AI content for imagery on categories and is essentially forcing people to pay if they want to read your fics offline.
By the way you don’t have to pay anything to read fics offline. You can do it for free using easily accessible resources that don’t cost anything.
You do not need to pay $1 every week, $2 every month, or even $18 a year. It can be done free! By anyone!
You can also turn ao3 into an app itself by adding it to your Home Screen. You don’t need to download shady apps.

My nana lost a leg and nearly died due to a retirement home’s neglect and rationing of insulin. This shit doesn’t need to happen, it costs 2-4 dollars to produce insulin. It should cost no more than twice that for producers to make profit.

heard a story on a podcast that some Christian missionaries showed these rural Cambodian farmers how to double their crop yields. the missionaries came back a year later and were surprised the Cambodians had grown basically the same amount of crops but the farmers were like “yeah this is great, we got everything we need for the year and only had to do half as much work”

There are So Many Journals from American colonists that describe the amazing bounty of the land, and then surprise surprise, once they drive away the people who were caring for the land and make the farming "more efficient" and kill all the predators and import domesticated animals and everything, the amazing miraculous bounty starts drying up.
Our grandparents tell us stories about the birds that used to be here and how the seasons were predictable and the weather less extreme.

How old are these people - Ashura friendship level 5 quest spoilers
(aka I cannot estimate ages to save my life lol)
Ashura is the only one who fought in the war, making him the oldest of Kilima I guess?
Hodari was "pretty young" during the war, old enough to remember that the family business was booming; and his daughter's ... idk, 7-13
Sifuu, who looks to be a similar age to Hodari or even older, considering Hassian's a young adult, however says that she isn't a history buff and if she'd been there she would have "cracked some heads"
Chayne, who to me looked about the same age as Hodari - if not a bit younger - was a young man and medic in the war
Kenli says he was "just a boy" who spent the war with his grandmother
Eshe, who I would have assumed was pretty close in age to Kenli says she already had a seat in the capital and then starts rambling about the Awkinduu queen, which to me makes her a good 20 years older than Kenli
Badruu, who looks older than Kenli, Hodari or Chayne, says he was "just a kid"
And then Delaila just says "Hey it's bad manners", Reth points out he's "not that old!" and says he and Ashura don't chat much other than work related stuff, and Auni pouts cause Ashura won't tell him about the war
So Ashura is definitely the oldest (and Auni definitely the youngest here) but before I would have said
With Ashura and Sifuu being about the same age, Badruu, Eshe and Kenli about the same age, Hodari and Delaila about the same age, Chayne by himself, Reth as the same age as Tish and Jel, and only a little older than Hassian, Hassian about the same age as Kenyatta (and Nai'o), and Auni at anywhere between 7 and 13 because idk how old kids look
With Eshe and Chayne being the same age (how), Hodari the same age or slightly older than Badruu and Kenli, Sifuu being closer in age to Reth (??? or she was just off doing something else?) and Auni as one of the 3 kids in the game is of course the youngest in this group
(even ignoring Ulfe's lore, he seems older than Auni to me, idk why; but Najuma and Ulfe seem like they're close in age; ... but then so do Najuma and Auni - but as i mentioned: kids ages are not my forte lol)
Well, in the new quests they say the war was like 40 years ago, so Chayne and Ashura, have to be 60+. I didn’t even think about Eshe being older than Kenli, but it seems like they declare their path at ~13 and start working soon after so she could have been a teen during the war and they could be as little as 5 years apart. Also, do we know how long the war lasted? I’m assuming Eshe is in her 50s and Kenli in his mid/late 40s. I’d put Hodari in his mid/late 40s, and Sifuu in her early/mid 40s, which makes sense assuming Hassian is around 20 and Najuma seems to be like 13/14 considering she just declared her path and can make explosives and her height and everything. Also, following Kenli and Eshe’s ages, I’d assumed Kenyatta was 17-20, which makes sense with their proposed ages. Badruu and Delaila are also in their mid/late 40s, considering their oldest son is around 20. I think Badruu is older than Delaila, I think that’s implied in some of their quest dialogues. Auni I think is around 9. Reth and Jel seem to be in their early 20s, I tend to assume Reth is 23 and Tish is 20. I feel like making Kenli a kid and Eshe active in the government during the war must have been an oversight.
