I am slowly losing my mind over the shift towards video as the default media format.

I do not find this to be an efficient way to absorb information. I am bored and distracted by the time the largely unnecessary introduction is over. I can't use ctrl+f to find the specific information I'm looking for. If there are instructions to follow, I don't want to have to constantly pause and back up to the part I need.

A lot of people tend to contribute JFM's favoring of WWX over JC to him being in love with Cangse-sanren in some way and I will admit that there's narrative backing to it, such with the "him not getting married to YZY till she got married to Wei Changze" and the rumors about him being WWX's actual dad. Yknow its the classic trope of "me and my best friend fell in love with the same girl but he stole her heart then a tragedy happened and I have to live with the consequences"

Anyway I think that's boring (lie) and while there is no textual evidence for this i think it would be incredibly interesting to explore the implication that JFM favors WWX because he reminds him of Wei Changze. Like imagine it with me, JFM grows up with Wei Changze (and maybe even falls in love with him. Maybe it wasn't Cangse-sanren he was hoping for, but his oldest friend & probably closest companion ever). When his best friend dies, all he's left with is his friend's son to remind himself, and we dont really know enough abt WWX's parents to determine what they were really like aside from the donkey fantasy. (Unless there's content I haven't seen which explains it? Which i doubt due to how little ppl talk about these characters) anyway all this to say you can make out whatever you want abt it. What JFM sees his friend's intellect in young WWX, in the way he dedicates himself to learning, in the way he tells jokes, idk have fun!!!

Plus there's the IMPLICATIONS. Based on how JC and WWX both don't seem to realize WWX's queerness, JFM might not have know his own queerness either, and if he did was likely afraid to come out. We see in how JC reacts negatively to WWX & LWJ being potentially gay that its likely it's frowned upon in their corner of the world. (Their corner being the YMJ territories at least)

All this to say...i wanna see JFM yearn for his old friend who he never got to express his love to through the man's young son LWJ style goddammit!!!!
