I know Toby seems to write queerness as mostly textually "normal and ok" but I think it's really sweet and important from our irl perspective how the Susie and Blue break is just basically an older fem gay man telling a teenage butch lesbian girl that it's ok and beautiful to love however she wants

#tbf hometown does seem fairly cisheteronormative #even tho they’re not actively like discriminatory #for example the festival king and queen #and susie questioning why its only king and queen #and noelle saying how kris and her would argue over who would get each role #so i think that scene with blue and susie was really sweet #just random thoughtss idk

deltarune is like an amazing work about hope, dreams, fate, freedom, resisting fate, being yourself, existing as a queer person in a cisheteronormativite society, friendship, misogyny, mental illness, and so much more.

and all people theorize about all day every week is this creepy cat image that sometimes comes up or if gaster is a green pirate or whatever the fuck.

And when they're not doing that, Deltarune fans love to say that this story about teens coming into their own and gaining independence and breaking from tradition through play [that is, through the Dark Worlds] is Actually going to be about how escapism is bad and the Dark Worlds should be sealed and you need to grow up

My WIP novel The Azure Mirage is now on Tapas!

The timid amnesiac Lapis is desperate to remember who she was. Hoping that her music will help fill the gaps in her memory, she aims to perform as a bard- though a severe case of stage fright has stopped her plan in its tracks. When the flamboyant bard Zephyr arrives in town, glowing with a light that only she can see, she takes an apprenticeship under him to try and conquer her fears. Little does she know, unlocking her missing memories might bring even more trouble to her doorstep... Meanwhile... Laz, an assassin in service to the powerful Lady Vastra, is desperate to escape their master's clutches after a job goes horribly wrong. When an unusual encounter acquaints them with the coffee-loving barista Leon, the two plot an escape plan to break them free of Vastra's control- and avoid them getting killed in the process.

I've been slowly but surely poking at this story and I'm finally comfy enough to start posting chapters publicly! The first 4 chapters are now available to read for free, and I'll be posting chapters here periodically as I finish them!
