We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
At the sound of his voice cracking Tegan looked down at their feet, searching her mind for words. Instead of words there were tears, one of the things Tegan hated most. She couldn’t stand crying, nor could she stand the sight of someone else tearing up. If anything, the most painful part of this moment was knowing that she was about to hurt him. It was almost like the universe decided to slap her in the face by screwing everything up the moment she decided to open up to someone. “I mean that the treatment wasn’t working. And I’m getting worse.” She was painfully vague, but talking about the details was even worse as far as she could tell. She remembered where they were, realizing that they were in the hallway of hotel rooms and that people were passing by and giving them curious glances. She wiped the tears off of her face, nodding towards the hallway and taking his hand. “C’mon, let’s head to the room or something.”
And then the walls were gone. Crumbled to debris that scattered along the floor that once stood so strong. These walls guarded his mind, the ones he often built up at times such as these. These walls blocked out reality and filled his being with false hope and possibilities, when indeed there was nothing but the truth in front of him. And the truth was the blonde in front of him who suddenly looked different to him. Her usual perky spirit was dimmed, along with the shade to her face.Simply things he ignored before were unavoidable now. Her words were ones he had heard before many years ago, and even then he couldn't accept them. How could you accept something like that? "No," he protested, shaking his head profusely, avoiding the stinging of his eyes. He jerked his hand away feeling the mixed emotions course through him. It was coming, and he knew it. It was coming, and he couldn't stop it. He yanked his hand away from her, and continued to shake his head. "No, we don't have to go anywhere because you're fine. You're great. You're better."
We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
As he spoke she began to feel panic settle in. If there was one thing that made her freak out, it was people calling her out on her lies. That meant having to tell the truth, and depending on how long the lie had been going on, coming clean could be very hard on the other person. She nodded, her voice growing quiet. “I know, I’m sorry.” She sighed, rubbing her lips together before forming words. “I’m not getting better.” She was going to continue but she started to feel the weight of her words, her eyes starting to well with tears she refused to let out. She repeated her sentence, the words coming out in a faint whisper that even she could barely hear. She looked up into his eyes, not sure of how he was going to react.
Jacob was oblivious. Not in the sense that he was ignorant, but he simply chose to be oblivious. For a realistic man, he often avoided reality at all costs. It was far too heartbreaking having to face your problems whenever you can simply pretend they weren't there. But here he was, his breath cut short while he could practically feel his heart slow down. Reality was there right in front of him and he could see it within Tegan's eyes. He didn't know what to say. Didn't know what to think. He didn't know anything. "What do you mean?" he asked with his voice slightly cracking, his throat on fire.
We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
Tegan could hear the panic in his voice and fought the impulse to bang her head against a wall. Today was supposed to be a day of making him happy, and then her heart started acting up. Acting up was probably an understatement, since it felt worse than before. She shook her head between his hands, trying to breathe slowly. She decided to try to drag the lie along, in hopes that he’d just let it go. “Nothing’s wrong. New weather climates make my lungs freak out sometimes. Shit happens.” As she spoke she kinda sped through her words, the pain not going away yet. She held up one of her hands, keeping her eyes shut. “Scout’s honor.”
His eyes slightly narrowed while his lips straightened into a thin line. He could feel himself growing angry, this couldn't be denied though he wished he didn't get so frustrated so easily. Especially not at a time like this. "You're lying straight to my face, Tegan June. Tell me the truth right now. I'm so sick of you lying to me, and I'm not going to waste another second pretending to believe your little tricks." He didn't mean to come out so hard, especially since she wasn't used to this side of him. When panic set in, he didn't have much control over what he said or how he felt. It was all in the moment. Taking in a deep breath, his voice came out in an almost desperate whisper, "Please. Just don't lie to me."
We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
With their hands intertwined she glanced over at him, smiling and giving him a small shrug. “Yeah, I guess. I mean, breaking up with you and having to find another nice writer would be very difficult. Might as well stick with you, y’know?” She grinned and squeezed his hand, biting her lip. “It would be an honor to stick around that long, Hart.” After that she didn’t really know what to say, and just glanced out the window at the rain that pattered against the glass. They eventually got back to their hotel, and as they started walking back to their room she felt another sharp pain in her chest and halted in midstep. She closed her eyes, holding her hand on her chest and leaning against Jacob for support. She mumbled quietly, “Can we just stop here for a sec?”
Only a smile could be found as Jacob's response, because despite of the joking, he knew what she meant. Tegan had a way of joking through serious subjects, even the happy ones, and it was just another thing he admired about her. She never quit trying to make others laugh or wear a smile. And around her, it came so easily.
It didn't take too long to get to the hotel, and he began to realize they were gaining closer to his favorite time of day. The time where they both unwind, forget everything about the day and what's to come tomorrow and just lie in bed, musing on about anything and everything in quiet mumbles. He never felt more at home, more at peace, whenever she was nestled inside his embrace.
Though this time around, it was different. He wrapped his arms around her in order to hold her up, and panic began to set in. The way she clutched her chest as if she let go it would fall apart was a heartbreaking sight. The pain was so evident on her face that even Tegan, the master of disguise, couldn't bear to hide it behind a smile. He cupped her cheeks and raised her face to make her eyes meet his. "Tegan," he said calmly, though it was obvious he was in sudden distraught, "What's wrong? What's hurting? Your heart?"
You Always Hurt The Ones You Love || Blue Valentine AU || Jacob & Ada
As she slipped her hand into his she couldn’t help but grin, following his lead down the dock. As it creaked under her feet she pursed her lips to avoid squeaking out of nervousness. She watched him roll up his jeans and sit down, and smiled as she did the same. She sat down criss cross on the edge, slowly letting one of her feet down. She wiggled her toes in the water, laughing and shaking her head. “Holy shit, that’s cold.” She slowly put both of her feet into the water, and looked over at the city from afar. “It’s beautiful out here. I feel like I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to be out of the city.”
_________________________________________________________
Ada smiled shyly, bringing her eyes to her lap. She couldn’t remember the last time he’d told her that she was beautiful - that was a sad thought to have, but it made the statement feel quite a bit more special. She smiled up at him. “Well, you look pretty good, yourself.” As he continued to drive her smile started to spread, getting excited for his upcoming plans. “When don’t you have extra plans up your sleeve?” She asked playfully, leaning against the car seat. She reached over and took his hand, their fingers twining. She nodded, “I’m glad we did this.”
Jacob kept his gaze on the skyline of the city, a smile placed easily on his lips. The cool water slightly stung his skin to numbness, but he somehow enjoyed the feeling. Of course he didn't particularly know this girl next to him, yet he couldn't quite ask for better company than her. Jacob was man to follow his gut, or at least know to trust it. She was different in the best kinds of ways. He could see it in her eyes. He could see it in her smile. He looked at her with a smile and said, "This place brings me back down to earth. It kind of just gives me a moment to breathe, you know?" He swayed his legs back and forth, looking down at the water that the moonlight reflected off of in ripples. With a sudden idea, he gave her a slightly mischievous smirk. "I dare you to go in."
_________________________________________________________
Almost instantly, Jacob twined his fingers back with hers, giving it a slight squeeze. A smile pulled on his lips, surprised and happy that she was so willing to just jump on board. Surprised and happy that there was a smile on her lips and that she was genuinely pleased. "I'm glad we did, too," he told her quietly, bringing their hands up to plant a kiss on top of hers. It didn't take long to get to the restaurant, the one she always seemed to like the most. He got out of the car and ran around to her side to open the door. Giving her a smile as she got out, the two walked inside in a comfortable silence. Jacob never really knew what to say, but after all these years Ada was definitely used to that. It was once cute to her, but now it sort of annoyed her to no end when he knew he needed to say something but simply said nothing. He was hoping it was something closer to cute this time around. Once they took a seat, he shot her a small smile and said, "Let me guess.Shrimp Fra Diavolo. You used to always order that here."
We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
"Yeah, let’s go," Tegan said with a smile, their hands swinging between them. Sometimes she wondered about what her life would have been if she’d never met Jacob. She spent all her time with no strings or ties anywhere, and anytime one began to form she would chop it off out of fear. Now here she was with that single string holding her down in some way rather than letting her float off like an uncatchable balloon. She knew that if Jacob went somewhere, she would inevitably follow. Even when she denied to herself that she cared for him to begin with, she probably would have followed him anyway and created excuses in her head. She wanted to be where Jacob was, and knew that she would never get tired of him or want to wander away from him like how she had with everyone else she’d ever met. There was no greater comfort to her than to feel their fingers intertwined, or just to hear the sound of his voice. She never thought she’d fall in love with someone, in fact expected to grow old in her own sense of isolation and die like that. Jacob was the first sense of hope in her life, probably the best thing that had ever happened to her, and she felt like she was on top of the world when he was around.
They stepped into the car, the sun setting and the raindrops continuously falling onto the windshield. As Jacob drove they passed by nothing but trees dripping with raindrops, the gray sky above them going through it’s daily downpour of tears. The Washington sky was always intriguing to her in the way that it seemed to go through a daily roaring cry, and these raindrops seem to bring her a sense of serenity. She sighed and glanced over at Jacob, trying to ignore the steadily increasing pain in her chest. “What if we lived here one day? Had a cute little house, maybe you could become a novelist and I could find a job doing something I really liked.” She heard a pang of sadness to her tone, but there was a small smile on her lips at the thought of it.
There was something about the Washington air that made it all the more breathable, all the more enjoyable. It gave a light sensation that coursed through out Jacob, as if reality simply didn't apply in this place. He felt good, the kind of good he hadn't felt in a while. They were both ignoring reality and the things they needed to face- something Jacob was remarkably good at doing. He just hoped for a good future, a good outcome, while ignoring what was happening in the now. It's what kept him sane. As he drove he admired his surroundings while easing his hand towards her lap, taking her hand in his. There was no other comfort quite like her hand in his, and he could never really explain it. It was like with one single touch she brought him back down to earth. A smile grew on his lips at her words, surprised to hear her say such a thing. He knew her trouble with commitment, her troubles with ever staying in one place and getting close to someone. Though he knew he changed a bit of that, he didn't expect her to ever visualize a future with him. Jacob was a romantic at heart, behind all the brood, and from the day he met Tegan he could see his future with her. He wasn't one to admit it, especially not to himself, so it was always thoughts locked inside his mind. "Sounds like a plan. I'm holding you to that," he told her, giving her hand a light squeeze. He wanted nothing more than a future in this place, doing something he loved with the girl he loved. He just didn't know whether or not to believe in dreams again. He glanced over at her with a smile and inquired, "you really wanna stick with me that long?"
sorry about my slight absence. Lost muse for a while an focused on my other blogs. I'll get to replies soon. And if you'd like to plot, don't hesitate to message me!
There’s just never a not awkward moment in letting someone know that you play another character that they’ve interacted with before.
Nope nope nope. Not crazy at all.
I know! It's so awkward, especially when they message me first and say they want to RP or something... I just... I don't know how to be like... Oh hey its me!
I've probably confused a lot of people tbh
harlowora said: I know this feeling.
okay. I thought I was crazy. Thank god I'm not alone on this. I think I just need to be like BAM. HERE'S ALL MY ACCOUNTS.
I have this crazy awkward tendency of never telling people about which blogs I have (and I have about four) , and I'll talk to the same people on each blog and I'm 95% sure they all think I'm someone else and..... i. just. don't. know. how. to. say. who. i. am. I'm an awkward fuck okay.
Familiar Faces || Phoebe and Jacob
Phoebe pictured tonight’s shift to be very ho-hum. The orders weren’t staggering tonight. Booths were void of company, tables empty and the only form of animation was the jukebox playing old tunes to keep things alive inside the small diner. She had another seven hours to stretch out her time with the casual chitchats. Something that was a bad habit of hers and often found her distracting conversations delaying of any orders.
"Two Apple and Cinnamon pancakes, and how ‘bout I throw in an extra treat. Did somebody mention strawberry milkshake?" she hinted and watched the sudden glee fill the toddler’s eyes before he gave his grandma a toothy smile.
"Chances of him sleeping tonight are slim. I promised Jackson’s mother I wouldn’t spoil him too much," Mrs Green sighed but Phoebe waved a dismissed hand in response.
"There’s nothing wrong with taking delight in sweets." She smiled as she tore off the flimsy paper before attaching the order to the paper clip holder by the counter for Dave to put through. Phoebe then took another attempt with the pondering male who grew rather unnerved in her presence and she was thoroughly confused by his response. She was often told her favorable nature would not always be well received. It was a plain comparison to her town and the world surrounding them. City dwellers weren’t the kindest of folks, but he didn’t appear to be of that nature. He carried a sense of politeness as proven with his brief interaction with Jackson.
"So how’s you mus—" Phoebe was cut off shortly with his abrupt question. She blinked mutely before gathering her words and looked down at her left breast pocket with a frown. "Oh my, I must have forgotten to wear my name tag," she muttered to herself. "Especially when we have new faces visiting the diner. What great timing, huh?" She chuckled softly before glancing at him. "Phoebe. My name is Phoebe." She answered with a smile. Nodding briefly, she scrawled the tip of her pen as she wrote down his order while wondering if he was hoping she’d answer with the previous name he had mistaken her for. "Bacon cheeseburger with a side of hash browns and coke." She read out. "It won’t take long, just keep on hanging’," she told him before returning back to the counter for his order and exchanged for the tray of pancake’s for Mrs Green. Carrying it carefully, Phoebe scooted past Emilia, one of the waitresses who worked alongside her with a concentrated expression as her back bumped against the chair and the milkshake swayed momentarily before it settled down. Her shoulders relaxed and she managed to bring the tray over to table three where the look of excited eagerness on Jackson’s face made up for her tedious shift.
"Than, you, Peebs," the tiny toddler gathered his words before sitting up and eyeing the round pancakes, all three of them large than his head.
"It’s alright, buddy," Phoebe smiled widely and resisted from pinching his absolutely adorable puffed cheeks.
"Table four!" Dave’s voice called out and Phoebe excused herself to go serve the ash-blond male. She carried his tray over and sat it on his table before setting out the dishes. "You know, it’s only fair that you tell me your name. Think of it as compensation for mine," she grinned absentmindedly as she placed the last of his napkins beside his drink.
It was surprising really, how well Jacob was handling the situation and all. A part of him was in utter shock while the other was strictly curious. This waitress had a warmth that radiated off her being, a familiar warmth that Jacob once basked in. Everything about her was telling him that it was his Rose, but alas that Rose had wilted years before. This woman was obviously not the same, but she was indeed similar. Jacob didn’t even know her, but he knew that she had sun like qualities. Her personality was like a hot summer’s day, bright and constantly enjoyable. Jacob watched the way she floated throughout the diner, greeting her customers with a loving smile, making children beyond happy with kind gestures. Every movement she made, every word she uttered, and every breath she took was a reminder of Rose. But she wasn’t her. No, she wasn’t her at all. That couldn’t be denied. He knew if he was smart he would have left the first chance he had. Because this situation felt all too familiar and the memories of how that ended was all too fresh.
“Phoebe,” he repeated, her name sounding pleasant leaving his lips. He nodded in response, mustering up what he considered to be a smile. She went on her way, tending to her customers while Jacob adverted his eyes to the window beside him. He watched the quaint town enjoy the rest of the day they had left before the sun fell. The town was one he could envision himself staying in for some time, but he knew he couldn’t. He needed to leave that night, put this town as a faded memory of his past along with the familiar diner girl.
Phoebe placed his order on the table, pulling his attention back to her. Every time he looked at her it was like the first time, shocking him all over again. He caught his breath as she asked for his name, yet he returned awkward silence as his response. Once he pulled himself out of his minor daze, he looked down at the food sheepishly. “I um, yeah, sorry, I’m Jacob.”
Maybe there’s a God above But all I’ve ever learned from love Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you It’s not a cry you can hear at night It’s not somebody who has seen the light It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

We'll Be Okay || Tegan and Jacob
"The newspaper doesn’t count. Who reads newspapers, anyway?" Tegan laughed, joking of course. She honestly never read the paper until she learned that Jacob was the editor - after that she bought every issue and read his articles, his artistic style being completely hidden behind the objective words and sentences about random things she honestly didn’t care for. She didn’t tell him that she bought all those papers, always hiding them in her house before he came over. She just always joked about how nobody reads them, acting like it didn’t really matter. She didn’t know what it was that made it so hard for her to admit something as small as the fact that she read almost every article he’s ever written - maybe it just sounded weird, clingy, and it was overall slightly embarrassing. As he twirled her, Tegan laughed, shaking her head. She honestly felt her heart flutter in her chest as he pulled her close, looking up at him. She said with a small whisper, "Well, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard…" She trailed off and closed her eyes as the rain drizzled on their heads. She sighed and mumbled with a small smile, "I’m way more in love with you than I should be.”
"Hey," he protested, raising his eyebrows a little, "I know tons of elderly who do the crosswords in that piece of garbage every day. So, ha." Jacob mustered a laugh, but there was nothing he disliked more than making jokes about himself, because they were never genuinely jokes. It was all simply sugar coated truths that essentially consumed his being as he hid behind a laugh. Of course writing for a Newspaper wasn't exactly the ideal job he wished for himself as a boy. It was writing, which fell under the category of what he desired to do, but in all honesty he couldn't care less about the events he mindlessly droned on about. No one picked up a newspaper unless it was for their pure bred chihuahua to take a piss on it, and even that was rare. Jacob was content, regardless. Content with his stressful job, content with the lack of readers, and content that his dreams were simply that- dreams. He was once so driven, especially the time of his life when Rose was still alive. She encouraged him frequently to become the writer he wanted to be, to write a novel and actually publish it. He was almost chapters away from finishing a decent novel once she died, making him lose all his drive as if she took it with her. Ever since it was untouched on his untidy desk where he wrote about the local High School's homecoming dance being a blast this year. And that was okay. It was all okay. To block out his thoughts that seemingly corroded his brain, he pulled Tegan closer while being greeted by the scent of her perfume he always loved, especially when it lingered on his pillow in the mornings. A smile drew to his lips as they danced with not much care to who was watching while the drizzle slowly formed into light rain. Drops collected on Tegan's eyelashes, somehow enhancing the color of her hues. Jacob Hart was absolutely smitten. There was something so intoxicating about Tegan June Elton, and he found himself always belligerent in her presence. The best way to explain the way she made him feel was like seeing the first shed of light after years of night. She was what filled the void and made him whole again, and no one, not one single person, could ever have a place in Jacob's heart like her. But at her mumbled words, he couldn't help but to smile down at her, a bit devious in a sense. "Thank you," he said jokingly, repeating the words she told him after he proclaimed his love for her the first time. His smile turned into a small laugh as he lifted her chin, placing his lips gently against hers that tasted slightly like rain. "You should know by now it is I who is the one who loves too much, Elton." And it was true. Jacob loved far too much for his own good, this being the reason why his heart broke so drastically. It was never a slight crack, but always shattered shards of himself. The music began to cease while the rain became persistent. Jacob prolonged the dance for a moment, then finally took a step back, holding onto her hand while giving her a warm smile. He nodded his head towards where they parked and asked, "Wanna head out?"
