After four years of being absent from the platform, I have made my GRAND RETURN to Tumblr! But first, an introduction for those who need it, both complete newcomers and previous followers of my content here who haven’t been up to date on my changes in tastes.

Greetings from Jason Stephenson, AKA Jason the Cartoon Fan! As you can tell by that username I’ve used for my other social media accounts, my special interest is animation (mostly of the American kind). However, I also enjoy sitcoms and family-oriented live-action fare from the 1990s and 2000s, The Muppets (any kind), and old school video games (especially those from Nintendo and Sega, the former of whom I’m an undying devote to).

I have autism, which makes it hard to develop lasting bonds with people who aren’t part of my family. However, through the power of YouTube and Twitter, plus my dad’s Special Olympics teams, I’ve been able to form great relationships with people around my age who share my obsessions.

I used to be a frequent presence on Tumblr, but originally abandoned the site once the YouTube channel my account there was attached to, “Jason’s Cartoon Favorites”, sadly got terminated.

However, with the recent news of Twitter’s uncertain future (thanks a lot, Elon!), I decided to reboot my account here, in case any of my new social media mutuals that I became friends with on the other social media outlet during my very long hiatus from Tumblr ever decide to leave the bird site. Expect this Tumblr page to essentially be my own personal blog, featuring my opinions on whatever pieces of media I feel like talking about, plus news announcements regarding the industry behind my favorite types of entertainment. I’m also an avid, vocal physical media supporter, so be on the look for posts about my collection as well!

If you wish to follow me elsewhere, I’m on BlueSky and Discord with the same username, just obviously presented as one word on the latter.

Warner Archive’s Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Blu-ray Release Has Been DELAYED

Alongside other Warner Archive titles scheduled to be come out simultaneously, the Complete Series Blu-ray set for Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated got its release date pushed back.

It will now be released on September 15, 2026.

While she does love being with her B.F., a little alone time resting under the warm sun at our local beach is something Mar Mar deserves to savor before Summer concludes as well.

This art piece of Marbles is the first commission I purchased from another mutual of mine, Ashley (on Twitter and BlueSky as Ashley’s Ponies). It’s part of an End of Summer commission deal in which her fellow yumeshippers are allowed to pay her to draw their own fictional others resting on a beach hammock - following such an art concept being realized with her F/O, Gloria Sato from Big City Greens. (Yep: we both have an F/O from a Disney TVA show!)

Being an L.A. baby created by a diehard Sonic the Hedgehog fan, a beach with palm trees makes sense for Marbles to be at in more ways than one.

My Complete Nickelodeon DVD and Blu-ray Collection! (as of August 2026)

On this day in 1991, Nickelodeon officially reached "Titan" status with the introduction of their first three original animated series - Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy.

To celebrate 35 years of NickToons, here is a new version of the complete look at every piece of Nickelodeon media I own on DVD and Blu-ray (mostly DVD due to there not being very many Blu-ray releases of Nick content). And when I say "EVERY piece of Nickelodeon media I own physically", I mean it. NickToons, live-action Nick sitcoms, Nick Jr. shows, and the filmography of Nickelodeon Movies - they're all here! As a bonus, I even tossed in my DVDs of Garfield and Friends and the TV specials that led to it, since Nickelodeon used to rerun that series from 1997 to 2000 before eventually acquiring the Garfield franchise as a whole in 2019.

My collection isn't entirely complete, but it is quite expansive, and I'm proud of how much it has grown due to the importance Nickelodeon had to me growing up. Cartoon Network may be my favorite of the "Big 3" family channels now, but Nickelodeon is the one I'm most nostalgic towards. Collecting as much as I have reflects the strong attachment I have to the lineage of the first series that I can say my life would be very different without.

The most glaring gap in my physical media library has finally been filled.

After getting Season 15 (actually 14B) on the format a month 32 days prior, I went back and purchased Season 14 (really 14A) of SpongeBob SquarePants on DVD last week from Amazon. Thus, I now have all 15 (technically 14) completed seasons of that series so far in my disc collection - just in time for the 35th anniversary of the NickToons brand.

Is that last detail foreshadowing? You bet it is!

Enjoying the Beautiful Briny with My Boo

With the end of Summer approaching, Mar Mar and I are making the most out of what little time we have left of peak swimming season by bobbing along on the bottom of the Beautiful Briny Sea. (If you recognize the movie paid tribute to here, you either are a Disney expert or deserve a senior discount.)

This gorgeously stylish art piece for my yumeship with timeskip Marcy from Amphibia is the latest one from my longtime online friend ⁠NoParking Berry‬. Berry hasn’t received any art commissions outside of this one since the last piece I ordered from him nearly two months ago, so please don’t hesitate to let him bring your ideas to life if you’re able to!

Paramount’s Warner Merger Attempt Has Been Blocked…for Now

Paramount Skydance has been hit with a series of anti-trust lawsuits in response to their plans to scoop up Warner Bros. Discovery.

Thus, unless if the majority of the attached courts rule in favor of Paramount, their merger with WB has been successfully blocked until June 1, 2027. Hopefully, Paramount won’t be allowed to win.

Disney XD Is Going Through an Identity Crisis

Why the Hell not? TeenNick did air a bunch of NickToons in recent years, after all.

Disney XD is adding - or in a couple of cases readding - live-action Disney Channel Original Series at 7 PM starting August 4, 2026.

August 4 - Wizards of Waverly Place

August 5 - That’s So Raven

August 7 - Hannah Montana

August 9 - The Suite Life of Zack & Cody

Wizards and Zack & Cody used to be part of Disney XD’s regular line-up before XD went all in on cartoons, with their last airings on that channel being in 2014; Raven and Hannah Montana are network premieres.

My 24th birthday came four days ago. Thus, I received a special sketch for the occasion of Mar Mar and me by my social media mutual Bugs (on YouTube as Joe’s Trash Stash).

As the introduction hints to those who are knowledgeable of the referenced moment, the first ever art Bugs drew of timeskip Marcy and me together is of she and I in the roles of Ramona and Scott from Scott Pilgrim during the famous scene where the former sincerely compliments the latter for the first time. My honest reaction when he sent the piece my way? “HELP; THIS FITS US SO WELL. 😭😭😭”

Bugs has said his art style is a mix of Scott Pilgrim and Hanna-Barbera, and Marbles and I are definitely proportioned in a manner seamlessly blending the two aesthetics together. He’s opening up commissions in the near future, so I hope there’s more to come from him in regard to Marcy and me.

Coming Soon to Blu-ray - Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: The Complete Series!

I can’t believe it took so long to get this set, and Warner Archive to make it possible!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated - the most beloved iteration of Scooby and the gang - arrives on a Complete Series Blu-ray set on August 25, 2026. While the full series was previously released on DVD shortly after both halves of each of this show’s two seasons finished premiering on Cartoon Network, this will be the first time we have all 52 episodes in one place physically, as well as on Blu-ray in general.

A huge rarity for Warner Archive, the set will also include special features unseen on DVD - specifically audio commentaries by Scooby-Doo! historians Matt Hargreaves and Andy Clift (yes: two of the key crew members of Eddsworld), and promo spots.

The third volume in Warner Archive’s Looney Tunes Collector’s Vault series, with two discs of classic shorts from Termite Terrace new to high-def disc, hits the format on September 8, 2026.

This particular volume has very special merit: it's the perfect balance between all-time classics, historical oddities, and everything in between. I mean, no other official physical media release has both the very first Looney Tunes short and the very first Merrie Melodies short, for starters. We're also getting very close to having every single Bugs Bunny cartoon available on either DVD or Blu-ray, thanks to Warner Archive allowing the rabbit's previously unrestored racier entries to finally see the light of day in modern times. This set is by far the installment of Collector's Vault that has a collector most in mind; the sky really does feel like the limit for Looney Tunes on home video now.

The latest SpongeBob SquarePants DVD release is finally mine. Thanks again, Walmart; $13 was enough to sway me into purchasing a physical media title new so soon after my last time doing so.

However, I must confess I have a little catching up to do with this series. I still need to get Season 14’s DVD set and the Blu-ray release of B̶i̶g̶ ̶G̶u̶y̶ Search for SquarePants.

For the first time,...well, ever,...I purchased a modern Pixar movie I enjoyed so much, I wanted to own it physically shortly after the film in question hit disc - thanks to my local Walmart.

Believe it or not, the featured movie's Blu-ray is also the first Disney home video release distributed by Sony that I added to my collection.
