I’ve spoken about it before. My hatred towards ICE as someone who was raised by immigrants. The best man I will ever know, despite his flaws came here without papers. He fled his own country the night of his sixteenth birthday. Worked his way from the bottom of the social hierarchy and became a lawyer.

The entirety of my sport is based off the support of immigrants. I would not have been able to compete at the level I have without them. And for that I am eternally grateful and thankful for them. Growing up when I needed help it was never the people of my Catholic Church who came to my aid. It was migrant workers I had befriended while working on cattle ranches.

America is founded by immigrants, founded by people who came searching for a better life. A tiny promise of something greater than before. There is one thing we all share. Hope. The hope for a better future. A better tomorrow.

I ask you to not lose hope. Speak up, speak out. Act.

With hope comes ideas, with ideas come change.

I am proud to be raised by immigrants
