“What IS your job then? You’re just some pill-pushing asshole?” Lemon rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest. “You’re SO good at it. How many years in medical school did you deal with to get here?”

“Im not pill-pushing, my job is to take care of you, your medical needs. I went to nursing school not medical school, so technically im not a doctor but im probably just as competent.”

Jess listened curiously, screwing her face up at the sight of the cup. “I guess we are, and you sound pretty convincing. I just don’t understand why i have to take them, they’re just icky” Jess said with a sigh

“They are to help calm you down, keep anxiety at bay, help you. Nothing bad no evil intentions/.”

“I don’t know man, you look kinda pretty to me.  I’ve got a sister who’d be all over you, if she was here and you were a little older”  He grinned, but then got serious, “I don’t want them, and I’m not going to change my mind.  No one should be forced to take anything if they don’t want to, even in a place like this, we’re still humans after all.”

Jasper chuckled shaking his head. “Im not sure how to respond to that but im just going to nod and move on, sound good?” He said. Pulling the cup back in the container he looked back to the patient. “Hey, its not my place. I believe in medicine for those it works for. But the people who need it and dont want to take it that it works for well thats a little different.”

nora was quick to gulp as she stared at him coldly. she could already feel the tantrum bubbling in her  stomach. “i’m trying to be nice!” she shouted. “why  won’t you let me be nice??”

Jasper stood with the clipboard in his hands stopping scribbling the stats of the patients that he had taken before talking to the girl in front of him. “You can be nice, Nora, without being promiscuous. I barely know you, Im not going to kiss you.”

“Yes, you are an adult however you have to do what the doctors tell you while youre in our care.”

“Yes, I can and I will. They make me boring and my libido is next to nothing on them. And that’s lame.” Lemon rolled her eyes. “Sex addiction? That’s bullshit. You all are just slut-shaming me.”

“Im not slut-shaming you--I just have to make sure you take whats in the paper cup. Apparently this morning you didn’t do that. Your diagnosis, yeah not my problem thats your therapists issue.”

“Oh, piss off.” Noah groaned, running a hand back through her hair. Being only eight in the morning, she was still rather tired, and rather grumpy, and saw no harm in passing on mood stabilizers when they did nothing for her anyway.

Jasper sighed, “Oh believe me, as much as Id love to, I’d get fired and you’d get thrown in isolation. Take your meds.”

Jess wasn’t convinced, looking to her doll for more information. “Dolly wouldn’t lie to me, and I trust her. Maybe you don’t want to kill me but they would knock me out so you could take me to the aliens ship. I know the plan, I know it! I’m not taking the poison!”

“Well I wouldn’t lie to you either Jess.” He said sighing. “Come on I thought we were friends.” He tried pushing the cup towards him. “Okay Im gonna tell you a secret. I hate aliens, always have, always will so me collaborating with them isn’t very likely.”

“Well then tomorrow you’ll have the switched order but for right now.” He said shaking the cup in front of him. “Take ‘em. Im not mad, just take them and I go away.”

“I got some pretty shitty meds. So yeah, I skipped ‘em.”

“Look you can discuss changing them with your assigned doctor but for right now I just need you to take them and then we can both go on with out day.”

“I always skip my meds. I don’t take them. I have rights, and I’ve chosen not to put that poison in my body. Read your chart again, pretty boy.”

“Ah right your Canyon, you void medication.” He said sighing and shaking his head. “Im not pretty boy but Im sorry ive been going throughout the morning with patients who are supposed to take them. If you want them theyre here, but im sure you don’t.”

Jasper sighed and rolled his eyes. “They are not poison. I am a nurse, not a murderer, Im not trying to kill you nor am I trying to rid this place of you. If I did that, then I wouldn’t have a job.”
