Java Motion

Java Motion is a coffee shop from my hometown, it doesn’t exist anymore, but i sure do. Sit down and i’ll tell you some stories

There’s a popular chain mexican restaurant in my town and the one next to it, riddled with rats and roaches.

Every three days someone posts about how awful it is, yet it thrives.

I drove past the one in our adjacent town, burnt to crisp, just like their enchiladas.

There is a silver man who shows up in my dreams whenever i am lost, he’s so tall and chrome that i can see him from anywhere, and he takes my hand and silently shows me the way.

Last night i had a dream, i was not lost, i had lost someone else. And the silver man appeared, no longer outrageously tall, no longer silver, and he wouldn’t tell me where to find the one i’d lost unless i beat him in a game, i lost.

i wonder if my dream guide is okay, and i wonder if he’ll be silver again, and i wonder what that means for me. i may be found in my dreams, but i certainly wake up lost

I have had spiritual breakthroughs in waffle house. it is a place i believe that demons cannot enter. It is holy ground

This town has so many ghosts. like actually so many. i don’t even believe in ghosts but ill be damned if this town doesn’t have ghosts

The local community theater is rumored to be haunted by three ghosts. My favorite is the little boy, who shoves cast members down the stairs backstage. He’s my favorite because he’s the only one who probably isn’t even real, actors are just too ashamed to admit they fall down stairs that frequently.

God gave me the ability to bear children, but placed me within a society that frowns upon my choices of names. If i want children named Bones, Diesel, Poncho, Lefty, and Bucket, i should be able to name them that without criticism. My life is a cruel joke.

my best friend is a grown man i see twice a year, once when the carnival comes to town, and again when the carnival comes to the next town over. every year i give him a little trinket and he keeps them in his train car. every year he says he’s barely holding on. every year he comes back in a purple shirt with the same song on his carnival speaker, scamming children and couples out of their money.

every year he cries when he sees me, and every year i fail his stupid little carnival game and i go home without a giant teddy bear, and every year i wait patiently for the carnival to come back to town

If you look back into my maternal lineage, you’d see such a large number of bullfighters and cattle thieves, that you would wonder if my moms side of the family did anything else besides cow related activities. They did not.

There used to be a mural of a cup of coffee and a train, they painted over it, now it’s a lifeless beige with smoke stains above the windows, the new owner of the building tried to burn it down, but nobody can prove it.

I have a friend who worked there, he remembers the old coffee shop too. He had to find a new job because the owner of the Bistro that now fills the space went on vacation, right after the kitchen burnt up. He’s not coming back, but nobody can prove that either.
