i think... Vincent wouldve been extremely envious of Elvis and his popularity. I theorize he'd want to be him more than he'd be attracted to him. As for Vincent's type in men-going off his canonical attractions— it's interesting that Valentino and Alastor are quite different.
So what made Vox attracted to the both of them? To find the archetype of the kind of man he's attracted to, I mulled over what traits Valentino and Alastor do have in common. Both (in hell) are unconventionally attractive. Both are confident and sassy with a strong sense of self most notably, both are gender nonconforming and flamboyant queers.
What is this all to say? There isn't enough information to say that Vox doesn't place a heavy emphasis on looks when it comes to attraction, but there is enough to say that Vox is attracted to confident and self-assured (at least people who convincingly present themselves to be) personalities. Val and Al present themselves as people who have high expectations of the people they surround themselves with, and Vox seems pleased to excel in that role.
However, Vox's tendency to try to undermine the people because of his narcissistic need to be 'above' them extends to his close relationships. He enjoys holding power over other powerful people, and embodies the toxic masculine need to control others.
That is to say Vox's type in men appears to be confidently effeminate queers who he has to 'earn to approval' of, the same toxic way one would, perhaps 'earn' a trophy wife. On a deeper level, I wonder if Vox could be jealous of Val and Al, who very confidently Embody their own identities and are less (visibly) concerned with the way they are perceived. I say (visibly) because Alastor is almost as insecure, but he does a much better job of hiding it.
Theres a joke that circulated the fandom when "Brighter" was first revealed because before that, there was a meme about how Vox danced like an old white man (Bad With Us). But when he pulled out the kpop dance moves in Brighter, we realized that Vox *does* know how to dance, he just doesn't do it in front of others.
It comes back around to the idea that in addition to being attracted to Val and Al, he kind of wants to be like them too— confident of his own unique personality, even if it doesn't have mass appeal.

As someone who has always hated the theories about how Alastor is a pure, irredeemable evil character who is going to turn against the hotel and be the final villain, I have always had a variety of reasons why this point of view made no sense to me. However, I have recently come to understand that, beneath many of these theories that Charlie will kick out Alastor and turn on him, lies a disdain for Charlie as a character. Something that I have heard a lot of people with these theories say is that Charlie needs to be taught a lesson that some people are not capable of redemption. They see her as a foolish little girl with silly dreams about redeeming the worst of the worst because she doesn't know any better and needs to be taught a lesson about how wrong she is. These people want Alastor to be the one to finally break her naivety. To force their point of view on her and make her "mature" into someone who agrees with them that some sinners should be classified as irredeemable.
I genuinely believe that anyone who is waiting for the narrative to show that Charlie is wrong about redemption is going to be disappointed. There are a lot of flaws in Charlie's methods that she still needs to work through. She also has a naive understanding of what good and evil entail. Despite this, the narrative has consistently validated her belief in redemption. Season 1 had her prove the validity of her beliefs to heaven. Season 2 proved it to hell. It seems that Season 3 is going to have to prove it to the audience, as there are a lot of people who still doubt her in the audience.
I believe that instead of Alastor acting as proof that Charlie's belief in redemption is flawed, it is going to be what gives more credence to her beliefs. If she can win against Alastor, in his villain arc, purely on the strength of her beliefs, it would change how people understand Charlie's ideals in relation to the narrative. Alastor, who people see as one of the most irredeemable characters on the show, gives more credibility to her position than all that she has done so far. With Sir Pentious and even Angel Dust, they are viewed as "good" by most of the fandom, so it has no impact on their belief that she is wrong about redemption when she helps them become better. Alastor is different. If Charlie is able to get Alastor to alter his plans for her based on the emotional bond that he builds with her, it would be the ultimate proof that anyone can be redeemed.
if someone could write a fanfic or fanart of vox and alastor as nikki and bear from obsession, i’d roll over and expose my belly in willing submission.
i dislike the whole “horror is so back” narrative people are throwing around recently with obsession and backrooms. both are great movies, but horror was also so back with the long walk. and sinners. and the substance. and nosferatu. and literally anything directed by jordan peele. horror as a genre will always have its flops. but there will always be those few that revive the hype.
