Ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 spec released, with a new cable to boot

The HDMI Forum’s Technical Working Group has released the specs for HDMI 2.1, as well as a new Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. Some of the 2.1 spec’s features will be backward compatible with your existing HDMI 2.0 cable, others will require you to upgrade.

Guess it’s time to schedule an end-of-2018 (or later) refresh of all my AV gear :/  Still rocking HDCP 1.4 on a receiver and other gear which is likely to need to roll over to HDCP 2.2 when everything starts receiving HDMI 2.1 ports...especially since a ton of content will probably be leaning heavily on locking out older HDCP implementations by then.
