an awful wager

Today, the 17th of November 2015, I was talking to a friend about the recent events in Paris. He has a darker attitude about the future than I, and he bet me $10 that tactical nuclear weapons would be used in the middle-east within a decade. I said it won’t happen and accepted. 

So i am using Tumblr’s post scheduling facility to queue a post very like this one, to appear here in my blog in exactly 10 years, on the 17th of November 2025.

I do hope I am right. So does my friend.

Stay safe my friends. I hope we are still friends in 10 years and you get to see me collect my $10. It probably won’t buy much by then, but it will be worth a lot.

First one is of my old workmate Kate. Lens used was Summicron 5cm 1:2 DR. Location is Cairns.

Second is fellow film-shooter, Neal. Lens is Industar 5cm 1:2.8. Location Townsville.

Looking through my photos from July 2012 it seems I didn’t do much photography that month. I did however take a quick photo of this house on Charles Street in Townsville, Sadly these days it seems to have fallen into disrepair, but back then it was quite impressive.

March 14th 2012. This stone statue, standing about a metre high, used to sit enigmatically on the street near where we always stay in Busan, Korea. I never found out what it was about, or why there were often piles of sticks next to it. 

One day, a year or two ofter this visit, I went to see it and it was gone. Not a sign of it anywhere.

Camera was Leica IIIf.
