This was a lot of fun!!!
@indiikaa
I redrew my most popular picture on this page. :)
Art progress. I don’t draw much anymore but I’m still progressing and I’m proud.
2013 - Just after high school. I still didn’t have much of a style and was very over the top with blurry and dark shading. I was looking at features such as clothes (which I wasn’t great at over the actual character.
2014 - I started to try and find a style. Cleaner lines, more realistic features. I still wasn’t looking at the character though. I was adding a lot of texture without much thought on where it went.
2016 - Still going towards the more realistic like style. I began to add more colours for shading and highlights. It’s still very much red vs blue on a very washed out base though. I made him darker which wasn’t great considering it pushed him further from his actual character.
2018 - Complete style overhaul. I went back to basics focusing on a flat cartoon style. I still wasn’t varied in characteristics at this time but was better at posing and capturing more actual personality and character in a piece. I became more varied in colours the right way but favored a flat look. This was the first time I actually said “Yeah, that’s Tak”
2019 - This last year I really put a focus on character design. I made it a goal to try and capture features and more accurate emotions to reflect the character. I stopped worrying about using references and bold shapes (something I was terrified of before and I didn’t want to accidentally steal qualities from others work). I started to do more cell-shading though can still blend and do so better. I also made an effort to understand colours more and not just going willy nilly with pallet choices. Tak, for example, is taller and thin with a round face and eyes, his mouth is small making the taks he holds in them more visible than his actual lips, they tend to move to reflect his emotion. He has softer edges and not many sharp points. His clothes despite being old and obviously worn are mended well with no lasting open tears. He has a lot of reddish browns that contrast eachother. His gold threads and blue eyes popping. Despite living in a desert country, he spent most of his life in the dark working and thus extremely pale. Those were honestly things I would have never looked at before... I’m still learning but happy.
Height difference.
Be more chill boys. My designs based on the book. Jeremy, SQUIP, Micheal, Rich and Jake.
SQUIP. Or my version of him. I have a head cannon that book Jeremy ends up getting a SQUIP again a long while later and some of the old data and memory is still there.
Amino ask (I do take them here to btw)
Amino ask. Also major drawing practice....
Actual quotes from the book. Jeremy is pretty gay... I also can't draw hands or props yet.
More in my Book vs Musical for BMC Micheal Mell. I honestly love both versions, they’re probably the most different from each-other in personality and designs
Another Book vs Musical this time with the SQUIP. I’m not proud of it but I’m done looking at it tbh
I did a book vs musical Jeremy. I plan to do most of the others in time
