Shikamaru sees Naruto’s inner war, so he picks up the mochi between his fingers and goes, “Humor me.”

And it’s supposed to be joking, like everything else they do together, but instead it comes out all low and soft and a little hoarse, and his expression is too open and too sweet

Naruto concedes to being fed bc is shikamaru feeds him, then it doesn’t count, right? It was shikamaru doing the thing, and Naruto just kinda. Let it happen. let shikamaru press the mochi into his mouth, let shikamaru draw his thumb over naruto’s lower lip just longer than is polite

It was, in hindsight, maybe a dangerous precedent to set, because now all Shikamaru has to do (in any situation winkwonk) is say “Humor me” in That Tone Of Voice and Naruto is turning towards him like a flower towards the sun.
