This photo annoys me. Aside from the obvious respectability politics behind it, it’s also ironic as fuck because Lisa Bonet would have been seen as the Nicki of her generation. When Lisa posed naked for playboy and did Angel Heart which included a graphic sex scene, it was basically a slap in the face to Cosby (which tbh he deserves more than just a slap in the face) and everyone who tried to pigeonhole her as just a cosby kid. Bonet wasn’t just some chill hippie chick, she was extremely sexually progressive. So in a way, Nicki is just following in the path that Bonet and others like her created which would allow for Nicki and other artist to express their sexual agency.
