He doesn't care much for Tim's approval (or lackthereof) because, at the end of the day he understands it's coming from a place of protection for Toby – he even thinks it's kind of sweet. Because before he started dating Toby, Tim didn't seem to have that much of a problem with him. He even seemed to respect him a little. So he figures Tim will get over it eventually.

Yes. He has a couple of times already! He has no qualms about openly speaking his disapproval. I mean, his son Toby has to get it through his head somehow that dating a man-eating demon as a man himself is simply ridiculous.
