Novice Review of Canon Powershot SX610HS
Reviews especially for gadgets/technology are usually technical (and that’s alright) but to me, if I’ll be making a blog and review gadgets, I’d prefer to say it how someone with no technical background will understand it. So I coined the term, “Novice Review”,
Hi! I’m JC Siongco. An engineer, musician, food lover, photographer, filmmaker, and video editor. I love reading reviews of things I like especially for gadgets. It helps me decide which gadget to choose from hundreds of available. So I decided into making my own blog too. Unfortuanately, I’m not a good writer so whatever goes here. Also, as much as I want it. I’d like to make my reviews simple yet understandable. Like for those interested in buying new cameras, but are not professional photographers, with all those technical terms makes it more difficult for you to choose what cameras to buy. That’s what I aim in making my reviews. To make it understandable yet simple so that anyone, even with no technical background can understand my reviews. So yeah.
First of my reviews are the Canon PowerShot SX610 HS and Canon PowerShot SX710HS. Both cameras are Point and Shoot, in layman’s term, digicam.
CANON POWERSHOT SX610 HS
This camera was easy to used and very friendly. It does not need to be a pro on how to use this. Just how any point and shoot cameras out there, this has it. Featuring a 25-450mm lens with an F-value of f 3.8-f 6.9, Movie recording of Full HD (1920x1080) 30p, and also has Wi-Fi and NFC capability for those who want to share those pictures right away. The Canon Powershot SX610 HS has it. I used this for almost two weeks, tested its capabilities and the results were superb.
Did some product shoot;
Shots at night;
Also, I used this to shoot fireworks and here are some of the results;
Surprisingly, it’s auto mode is surprisingly good. It has good focus and also sharp images. Except for low light that is, I tried to shoot with this during a concert where light changes very often. It’s white balance is very poor in that area.
PERFORMANCE:
Canon PowerShot SX610 HS did what it was stated in its advertisiements. Only CONS I noticed where white balance in low light and grains/noise in high ISO. Battery life is fair enough and has an almost 1-2 hours continuous shoot. Also, this camera provides NFC, Remote WiFi for a remote use of the camera using your phone by using the app. It can also be used for quick sharing of pictures so that you can upload it on your social media sites as soon as possible.
CONCLUSION:
For a price of 11,998 PHP, It’s not a bad offer. It’s not always everyday you take a picture using this in bars/clubs, shoot it with video instead. Sharing of pictures is quick. Video is good. Focusing is quite good. White balance is almost good. But overall, the camera itself is great and I recommend buying it. For photographers out there reading this, this camera can be a perfect camera to practice your skills again in composing and focusing. And also perfect for those family reunion pictures or travel where you don’t want to bring the heavy DSLR.
NOTE:
Big thanks to Canon Philippines for lending us these two cameras. Notice I only wrote CONS and did not discuss other areas, that’s because that’s how simple my review is. For questions, kindly email me at: [email protected]
