About Me
My name is J. D. Huffman, and I am the Director at the Huffman Weather Service in Charlotte, NC. I am also an undergraduate meteorology student at Gaston College in Dallas, NC.
One of the first things that I tell people when I meet them is that I have Autism, which is something that I am not ashamed of, but rather very proud of: my Autism is part of who I am, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
I have been interested in meteorology and atmospheric science for as long as I can remember, but I started getting serious about it back in March of 2009, when I was trained and certified as a SKYWARN weather spotter with the National Weather Service.
Since then, I have graduated high school and am attending college to earn my Associates Of Science degree. In 2021, I became a Student Member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.
I founded the Huffman Weather Service in November 2017 as a private-sector meteorology group that provides weather updates, coverage, and alerts for the Charlotte-Metropolitan Area of North and South Carolina.
