THE SHADOWS DON’T HOLD BACK THE LIGHT
We are living a life battling with the idea of uncertainty caused by the pandemic in the previous year up to this present time. It became a phase wherein it seems like we are behind a shadow and not seeing clearly what is ahead of us. To the point that we should choose whether to move on to the next stage without being certain of what the future holds or retreat in fear back to what is familiar inside our comfort zone. There is also a sense of giving something up or letting something go. It is a decision whether to push through - without knowing on what road we are heading to or stay on what we are familiar with. Whether we like it or not, circumstances like these are inevitable.
During this quarantine season, I realized that we have to prepare to die thousands of times - but it shouldn’t just end there. We also have to prepare and learn how to get up and get back on track every time we die. The battle is between how we will survive it and what we have to do to get through it. It is not enough to think only about how we will be able to get through, but we should also think about what are the things that we should do, what mindset we should have, and what way are we going to respond once we are in that situation, in order to conquer the challenge that life throws. Life is indeed full of stumbling blocks. But on the other hand, those stumbling blocks could also be a disguise as our stepping stone in achieving the desires of our hearts.
Out of all the uncertainties in this season, there is one thing that I am sure of - and that is, God is going to stay committed to the "tomorrow" He has in store for me. I always wrap my head around that fact every time I get bombarded with my thoughts and "what ifs" in life. This season may be challenging, but I know that there is nothing I can’t overcome with God on my side. Despite all the things that have happened, God doesn’t forget His promises. Hindi magiging madali, pero kakayanin.
This season is all new to us and we have never been here. But we have known unknowns before - what it feels to do unfamiliar things, what it takes to wait, and the feeling of as if we are just wasting our time. But hey, nothing in our life will be ever wasted. We may be taking slow and small steps at this point in life, but it is fine. No matter how slow and little the steps are, the important thing is, we are moving forward. As long as you choose to move and not be stagnant, it is still progress. Just the mere fact that you always keep choosing to stand up every day and fight through life, that already points to your courage and strength. Despite all, the sun is still out there, providing us light and shining for us as a reminder of hope. But the shadows of it don't hold back the light.
