Wasn't going to reply to this but I have some things to say. This is heavily OOC so just be ready for that. Melissa, I don't want you to take personal offence here, but I am going to disagree with you. This is a post with a personal opinion.
Sex is just sex. Lesbian sex. Gay sex. Straight sex. Ambiguous sex. It's all still sex. Someone who doesn't like sex probably won't like any of that. One form of sex is not higher than another form of sex. The gender of the two parties does not change the fact that it is still sex. What the sex itself involves does not change the fact that it is still sex.
I have made a post- almost a year ago, I think- saying that I personally do not want to hear a song about sex. I wrote this post when I was personally sex-repulsed, a flavor of asexuality where the individual is repulsed by sex, or the idea of sex (Not all asexuals are repulsed by sex!). I no longer identify that way, but the point of the post still stands when in the character of jeff-offical.
I made this post a while ago. If I had made this post today, with the same idea, I would have phrased it differently. I would have said something like this "I don't wanna have to listen to sex and romance songs anymore. Time to write a song about fucking pillaging a village or running with the faeries".
The way I worded this post initially isn't something I'm particularly proud of. It makes it sound like I am anti-sex! I'm not, though! I support sex! sex is great! Sex can be fun, sex can be artful, sex can be loving. Sex can be strangers or friends or partners. But if it is any of those things, it is still sex.
This post is about not wanting to listen to a song about sex or romance. I think, when I wrote it, I was filled with upset at the lack of asexual and aromantic representation out there. I shouldn't have written it in the way I did. It makes it sound like I believe one form of art is better than another. That's bullshit. Art is art and art is beautiful.
But that's still the point- I don't want to hear a song about sex. I don't care about the form of sex, it is still sex.
So, melissa, yes, your song about lesbian sex does count as a song about sex. I have nothing against your song about lesbian sex, and I hope that you have fun writing it and that it reaches the right audiences. But I am not the right audience. I do not want to hear a post about sex.
