My Bike of Theseus, a custom built steel 2011 Mosaic RS-1.
My buddy Matt rode it for a while before he went over the hood of a car in Denver. Both Matt and bike were fine but after being replaced by an identical Ti version it hung on the wall for 6 years.
Around 2018, after being given a clean bill of health, I built up the second iteration. A new groupset in 2019 and other wear items over the years as it needed them. Not a lot changed as the years rolled on.
We’re somewhere north of 18,000 miles together and it deserved a refresh. New wheels and tires on loan from the Zac Coolman collection along with new bottom bracket, chain, cranks, cassette, and cabling installed by the instagramless Tanner. A true group project. At this point the only thing original on it might be the frame itself.
Chris King, Enve, Thompson, Shimano, Mosaic. External routing, mechanical derailleurs, rim brakes. If it were 2014 this would be the hottest bike at the group ride.
