I was really glad to see this double figure common in the net. He was worth £50 to me as he came in the last 15 minutes of a match, and secured me 2nd place and largest fish! Always nice to go fishing with dad. I brought him to my local lake for the weekend, and he only went and had the biggest common in the lake as his first carp! Landing it was a good team effort, with me up to the brim of the waders breaking away weed from the leader. Dad gave me the carp bug years ago, and this is a great story I'm sure we'll talk about for years. 33lb 4oz of Epic common they woke me up at first light a few weeks ago. Its a really long fish with a distinctive white belly. Looking fit and obviously on the munch after dropping 5lb of spawn since her last capture! I had her last year and i'll never complain about a recapture of this carp, its a pretty one and a good fighter. I've been on a family camping holiday this week, but I managed to sneak the 9ft rods and some tackle into the car. As it was going to rain all day I snuck out last night after dinner to get a little session in at Stanwick Lakes Fishery which just happened to be about 5 miles down the road. I've been to Elsons lakes before, and this is a lovely day ticket complex. Within 10 minutes of being in my new swim i was into this beautiful Hardwick mirror. They were stacked up in the corner, and a black zig aligner soaked in sweetplex tricked it. I was rolling up some nice smelling hook baits for a change last night. I've got Loads of attractive liquids to play with, its really hard not to get carried away making loads of different recipes!
